04 Hey, you're listening to Adventure on W4CY Radio. Yo, it's the Pipe Man here on the Adventures of Pipe Man W4CY Radio's Depositively Pipe Man segment, where we will have today our resident guru about pet health and human health, the Pet Health Guru. I have to say that I'm very excited that I had no festival this last weekend. I've been on the go for months now and I had a free weekend. Guess what I did with that free weekend? I got caught up on a whole bunch of work. I didn't even leave the house all weekend.
58 It was kind of good to not get out there in the wild, especially there wasn't great weather here. Had some great Views, though, like my front yard looked stormy and scary, and the backyard looked perfectly clear. The beauty of South Florida, where you can look left, and it's like the worst weather ever, and look right, and it's the best weather ever. And on that note, also from South Florida, let's bring on the pet health guru, and of course, Studio Nut. Hello. Hello. Okay, and so I just want to say, too, that this won't last long because I'm leaving Thursday for Rock, Oklahoma.
42 So everybody, pay attention to the Pipe Man Radio Tour. But, Bill, this last weekend, okay, did you have the same thing by you, like weird weather on one side and perfect weather on the other? Oh, absolutely. It's funny because I was doing a little bit of yard work on Sunday morning, and I mixed up my all-natural weed killer to get rid of some stuff that went in the flower beds. And, you know, we're supposed to use it when it's hot and sunny and dry. I no sooner finished spraying it in the sky as well now. And the sun was still shining.
28 I know. That was a waste of time. Yeah, you can't predict that stuff. That's why I don't even gain my vehicle car wash because that's where the car washes are getting smart because they're doing like the monthly unlimited because otherwise I'm not washing my car because that day it'll be dirty again. I have somebody coming to clean the house today later. And they asked me about cleaning the windows. I'm like, why bother? It's going to rain probably after you leave and there'll be, you know, full of water spots again. So, but I wonder how this weather is on fruits and vegetables. I already know that because we're in Florida. This is not the fruit and vegetable Haven, but you know, we're supposed to eat our fruits and veggies as humans. And a lot of, You know, people, they are smart in feeding their pets what they eat, but you can't feed them everything. And I think some people don't know what they can and what they can't. Or I know my daughter, youngest daughter, she's really obsessive that she's a cat person of what you can't feed her cats. And that's pretty much nothing, you know, because everything can kill them. But I want to hear from the pet health guru. what it really is.
51 Should we be feeding these pets fruits and vegetables? Are these foods really necessary for pets? You know, that's a great question, and I get it all the time, and it's like, you know, when I talk about a species-appropriate diet, the dog or the cat being carnivores, you know, I explain they have to have animal products, you know, something that is living and growing as an animal, not as a plant. And it's like, well, don't they need like all these other vitamins and minerals from, from fruits and vegetables and everything else. The truth of the matter is, is their digestive tract is different than ours.
34 Funny thing is, is ours is closer to a wolf than it is an ape. Apes are herbivores. They eat plants. All that's all they basically eat in nature. Animals know what they're supposed to eat. Being carnivore means, like I said, animal products, meat, poultry, fish, eggs, things of that nature. And when we give them high carbohydrates, grain-based foods, which is what most of the commercial pet foods are, or even fruits and vegetables, there's no digestive enzyme there to start breaking those down. We have amylase in our saliva.
15 that starts breaking down those sugars immediately in our mouth. Dogs and cats don't have that. So that stuff gets into the stomach, and there's nothing to break it down. Now the pancreas has to make, obviously, a little bit of amylase and start breaking this down so they can use it, which takes away from its normal function. So we're stressing the pancreas. Also, because of the high sugars in that stuff, it's going to make a ton of insulin, which a carnivore would normally not make very much of at all. So we screwed up the digestive process by not having the right stuff, but also it puts the body into conflict. You know, carbohydrates take a lot longer to break down than meats do. So now we're sitting there with that garbage in the gut, trying to break it down, and it's literally rotting. And, you know, that can't be good.
11 I'll tell you what else, too. Interesting, because I was going to bring up about how fruits digest. And you're absolutely correct in what you said, which is also why humans are not supposed to eat fruit at the same time as other food. Because that's why you get the sour stomach. Because you're producing the digestive enzyme that's now going into your stomach that doesn't work well with others. Right. That's exactly the whole, the whole thing. You know, we want to move the, you want the body to move the food through efficiently. So it breaks down properly.
52 We get the nutrients out of it and get rid of the waste as quickly as possible. You know, you know, one of the, one of the pandemics they never talk about in the human side is constipation. I mean, I can't tell you how many times what I'm doing, you know, consultation and pet parents are talking, especially with women. Not discriminating, but I only go every three, four, five days. It's like, I'm uncomfortable. Yes, it's a bigger problem than people realize. First off, you're not drinking enough water, especially a living water, that's important, ionized and a little bit on the alkaline side, so it's also going to kill and quelch those cancer cells. But, you know, all this is a part of it. And, you know, it's a symptom of, obviously, incomplete digestion. Why do we have incomplete digestion? Because we're putting in the wrong foods. We're putting in things that our body can't deal with. I actually saw something on a podcast this past weekend. Isn't it funny that good pasture-raised eggs are selling for like $ 10, $ 12 a dozen, and yet you go down the candy aisle and everything's two for one?
22 All the synthetics, they can do that because it's not food. Yeah, I always find it strange that I have to pay more for organic. I would think all the work and the expense of making something processed should cost more So I want to turn to Studio Nut for a second because I'm not even sure if he's alive. He'd make a great federal agent, you know, because he's been stone-faced the whole time. It's almost like he was just an AI version of himself. So I heard he was trying to feed his guppies grapes the other day. Is that true?
04 I can neither confirm nor deny that. But what about which form of grapes are we talking about? The whole grapes, or was he getting them drunk on wine? Well, that's different. That's just for entertainment purposes. But seriously, though, when we talk about pets, a lot of people are assuming dogs, cats, but fish in general. Even they have different eating habits through different types of fish, you know. I'm sure there's fish out there that, you know, only eat certain things. And whales basically, plankton, orcas eat great whites.
53 And great whites eat everything else. And bull sharks, they eat garbage. you know, but so what about fruits and vegetables? Like, should I go instead of worms, should I go fishing and, and stick like a grape on the hook or something like that? Lots of luck. You'll be there an awful long time. Um, I have noticed that though. I've noticed if I drop like a grape or something in the water, the fish don't even move. Now, if you were to try ramen noodles, that would be a whole different story. I don't know why, but fish love it. So you feed your fish ramen noodles?
35 No, if you go fishing and you put ramen in your hook, it'll get something right away. And you've done that? I've seen people do it. I haven't done it myself. Can you explain that, Pet Health Guru? Is this true? You know, because of the flavor additives that they add to all this stuff, and anything that has a diverse dietary requirement, yeah, that's the MSG and everything else that they add to that. I don't even get the whole ramen thing. Like, my daughter and her husband are obsessed with ramen, and I'm like, Why do I want to spend $ 50 for a bowl of ramen when I used to buy oodles and noodles for six for a dollar?
19 Well, because this version is healthier. I don't know about that. I've looked at what's in that version. It doesn't even look appealing if I wasn't a healthy eater. That's so true. The other thing on fruits and vegetables that I mentioned on another show is that most of what fruits and vegetables we see today on the market aren't even real. I mean, you can't pick wild broccoli. You can't pick wild cauliflower and so many of the other vegetables. And even if you found a wild version of some of this stuff, it looks nothing like it did today. Well, where does purple cauliflower grow? I want to know that.
02 Yeah. That's a good question. I mean, you know, I haven't seen that. But again, that goes back to the selective breeding. We found one plant that had an off color. We keep exploiting it, exploiting it. So it's not even near the natural characteristics that you would have. And when you start changing all these characteristics to do certain things, you lose a lot of other things like nutrients. You know, it's a perfect example. Asparagus. I have to think that white asparagus has all the nutrients taken out of it. Just my guess.
44 It's going to be devoid of a lot, yes. And that's the problem. You know, when we take out, you know, when you look at things like strawberries, the breeding for the size and for the sugar content, well, that doesn't mean it's nutritious for us. You know, same thing when we start shipping fruits and vegetables around the globe. and they're out of season where you live, your body doesn't even accept it. It just gets rid of it because it does not have the same energy. And, of course, that's the whole thing with our foods as well. We have to have that proper energy for it to work. You know, and you mentioned the strawberries, okay? So it made me immediately think of a few months ago there were these specials at Publix on strawberries. I forget the name of the strawberries, or maybe it was Whole Foods they were specials at. I don't know. Whole Foods is the one that has all the weird stuff. Whole Foods, I don't know how whole it is because they're the ones that have purple cauliflower and weird things that you would never think in the wild. But these were like white strawberries. Then there was some special name for them like they were better. They were more expensive. Make a fruit or vegetable different color and you can charge more money for it because it's rare.
05 Yeah, and there's a lot of these things that packaging now says like with added minerals or with natural flavors, but it's supposed to be a natural product. Well, you know what natural flavors is, don't you? You know, natural flavors is today's version of MSG because they outlawed being able to say MSG. So that's how they get away with using MSG is by calling it natural flavoring. Well, you know, one of the interesting things is when I go back early in my career, which is over 60 years ago, you know, Purina, the so-called pet food company, always claimed they spent more money on nutritional research than any other company on the face of the earth. They were not. They were not building a better pet food.
58 All their research was on getting flavors that would disguise garbage so any species would eat it, including humans. And that's actually their main business is actually in palatins. You know, flavors. There is no definition of what they can put into it. I have proof of that. Because when I was a little kid, my brother, he liked to play practical jokes on me. He's 11 years older. And we had these things, doggy donuts for the dog. And he, you know, had me try one. And it did taste like a real donut.
42 Yeah. I didn't know dogs liked donuts. I know. Exactly. You know, it's like, too, if you look at, you know, litter today. You know, you've got 47 flavors of vodka. Okay. Well, if you wanted lime vodka, why don't you just take it by the cheap regular vodka and add lime juice to it? What is the purpose of this? What a concept. You know, it's funny you brought that up because I rarely, as you know, ever drink. This weekend, I went out to dinner and I decided to have some tequila. And I picked a new, not new, but I mean new to me, brand that I saw because I researched it. I'm like, oh, this might be kind of cool. The brand, I forget the name of it.
31 I have it written down somewhere, but the reason I picked it is it was true blue agave tequila. It didn't have a bunch of poison in it. And they do say for diabetes... A shot of tequila a day actually helps diabetes, whereas other alcohols hurt it because they're pure sugar. But when I was reading it, it was like it had like a, what did they say? Oh, with red wine, they used it to like whatever it's called, cure it or whatever. Okay.
14 Okay. Bask in the red wine for days or something like that. And then it described how it had like the taste of like having like blackberries in it or berries or something like that. I'm forgetting all the exact words, but all I can tell you is when I did taste it, it did taste better than any tequila I've ever tasted. Okay. It didn't really have that strong taste of tequila, but I'll tell you what else too was weird about it is that And I don't know if it's because it's the pure blue agave or because of whatever they're doing to it, you know, with the red wine. But I got way more buzz off of the little bit of tequila I drank than I ever would. Like, I could drink a glass of tequila and you wouldn't even know I drank tequila. Okay? And I rarely drink it. But in this case, like, I was a few steps in and I was like, oh, I'm a little buzzed. which is why I don't drink. I don't want to feel like that. So how do you explain that then?
21 It's partly our metabolism, the way we're breaking stuff down, what deficiencies we have at any given point in time will dictate where certain nutrients will go, where the sugars will go, where the alcohol will go. All this stuff enters into it. You take somebody that does drink a lot. Oh, I drink whiskey all the time. And it doesn't affect me until the fourth or fifth time. And then you get a DUI. It's just the way. The body works. What food is already in the body? What have you eaten 24 hours prior? How much sleep did you have? All these things enter into it. And it's funny. I saw somebody made a comment to me about that. If you're going to drink, don't drink hard liquor because it causes different types of cancer. And I questioned it. I said, well, first off, define hard liquor.
18 Right. I think wine is worse for you than hard liquor, personally. But go on. This is one of the things I was pointing out. It's like, so we made a general statement on hard liquor. Is tequila and whiskey the same? Is vodka and gin the same? You know, all these things have different, you know, components to them. You know, gin, of course, is... actually sometimes, depending on where you're looking, rated as a healthier form of alcohol because it's normally made with herbs. It's fermented with different herbs. Actually, it has a more medicinal use than some of these sugary liqueurs and things of that nature. Jagermeister, for instance.
05 Oh, my God. That stuff is gross. Just saying. I don't know why so many people are into Jaeger. It is gross. That's true. Yeah. But then again, vodka is gross to me. My dad used to drink vodka. I think vodka to me is like drinking rubbing alcohol, to be honest. It's closer to it. Exactly. That's why people say an acquired taste. Well, if you don't like it, why are you acquiring the taste? I don't get that. If it's bad for you and you don't like it, why are you trying to make yourself like it? Dumb.
45 That's what I've always said. You're not liking it. You're getting used to it. Exactly. I don't think anybody really likes the taste of some of these things. And your taste buds do get used to it. Just like an example with tequila. OK, I can tell you if I do a second glass of tequila, it just kind of tastes like water to me because alcohol numbs your taste buds. Ding dong. Exactly. You know, it's like, you know, when people make drinks and, you know, they start out. The first one is is rather strong. And of course, as they go on, they're adding more alcohol. to each drink because you can't taste it anymore.
29 Complaining to the bartender that the bartender is ripping them off and not putting any alcohol in it. That's right. No tip for you. There's the example too. What's alcohol made from? Fruit a lot of times. Anything like that is not necessarily good for you just because it's fruits and veggies. Like V8 juice. When I started the Dr. Jafari diet and I was reading stuff, I'm like, oh my God, V8 juice is probably the worst thing for you, but it's touted as something healthy. It's got more sugar in it than eating a Hershey bar. You know? Yeah. And I think also with doing things, like you said, you have to know your body. You have to have somebody like the Pet Health Guru that knows what they're talking about. You can't just do it on your own. That's the reason Chad is not on this earth right now. I firmly believe that 100%. He did the Gearson therapy. He didn't even know what was wrong with him. And he did the Gearson therapy, which is juicing. Turned out he was diabetic.
42 That's the worst thing you could do for a diabetic. Yes. You know, so you really have to talk, and that includes your pets. Stop listening to your neighbors and your friends and your family members. Check out the Pet Health Guru for the real info. That's exactly it. That's why we have the Pet Health Cafe, our show, podcast. It's been on for going into our 19th season. You know, we've been around a long, long time. A lot of the good information there was a lot of real experts. In fact, on that show, we've actually had shows on it. Who are the real experts? You know, who should you be? Somebody with letters after their name or people that have practical experience and have actually lived it? And, of course, the products that we guide you towards are all available at MyPaleoPet, MyPaleoPet.com, the store in Pompano Beach, where you can book consultations with us. We're just getting ready now to set up our fall season for our new education center where we're going to have regular speakers and regular consultants in there to help you out with your questions. And, you know, we're pulling in the best products we can. Our farm-to-table meat proteins and that sort of thing are available, you know, right from our local farms.
07 Right now we're going through a egg crisis. There's just no, either the hot weather in Florida, um, chickens just aren't laying enough eggs and they're at a premium right now just to get them. And, but you know, you can go to the supermarket and you buy the factory ones all the time, which don't have any nutrients in them at all. I washed in Clorox, put under radiation, you know, so that they have a constant supply. But you know, the good stuff is that my paleo pet, um, You know, stop by and see us, and we'll get you set up on the right program. You won't find very much fruit or vegetables in there, though, I'll tell you that. Well, and, you know, that's the thing. When your fruits and vegetables, they have that bite to them, maybe that's the Clorox or your eggs have it.
55 It could be. Well, people realize one of the other little secrets is every single plant that we know basically... produces an insecticide. That's how they protect themselves. So would you, you know, spray your pans with Wade instead of Pam? You know, I wouldn't even spray Pam. Yeah. Well, it's funny. On the last Pet Health Cafe show, I said, you know, we're looking at supplements and things like that. And I asked the question, would you drink a glass of gasoline and Would you drink a glass of motor oil? What do they make all the synthetic vitamins and minerals out of? Petroleum.
44 Yeah, there you go. That's my case. Well, I'll also say, too, that, you know, we all talk about worrying about washing our fruits and vegetables that we buy because of whatever's sprayed on them. And I'm going to add to that because I was at a store yesterday and literally I had to wait five minutes to get my grapes because there was some dude and his wife was standing right behind him watching that. Okay. I'm okay with, you know, pull out one grape and see if the grapes are any good because nothing worse than bringing fruit home and it sucks. Okay. But this guy was sitting there like for five minutes, gomming down grapes, like, And didn't even care. Like, at least I'd have respect for you if you took the grapes, put it in your basket, and on your way to the register, as you're going through the aisles, you pick through it. Because you're only affecting yourself. But we all got to buy those grapes, you idiots that are doing this. And I couldn't even buy my grapes because he was too busy gumming these things out. I was standing right behind him.
54 He saw me looking, didn't care. Like, how do you not care that you're stealing this shit? Because it is stealing at that point. And you're not even hiding it. This is wrong with what's wrong with people today. They have zero ideas, zero clue, and zero respect. That's why I like the pet health guru. Because if you want somebody that's going to take care of your pet and not be an idiot, the pet health guru is that person. And, you know, Also, tell everybody how they get to MyPaleoPack. It's really easy to get there in Pompano Beach. We're located right between I-95 and the Turnpike, right off of Powerline and Sample Road. So it's an easy place to get to, easy, convenient, depending on where you're coming from.
47 We try to keep it in the location. Basically, we've been in that same area for 20-some years now. So even though we've moved once or twice, it's always within a half a mile. So, you know, we're good. We're local. And we've been local for a while. So my question to you is, do you have people come in your store and taste test things in your store in front of you? We do have a tasting program sometimes with some products that we have. That's different. Okay. Yes. But yeah, Other than that, not normally. I have no problem if there's a thing set up and there's free tastings. Like, I'll take that.
33 Yeah. What is with people? Like, do they bring their dogs in and test out the bones? Well, that's another story in itself because we have had toâ threatened owners because their dogs were shoplifting the treats in the lower, involved in the lower shelves. Smart. Like, those are some smart dogs right there. And as far as being in business for myself, I mean, you know, okay, you weren't going to buy any treats, but guess what? You just paid for 14 chicken feet or, you know. I also want to mention something. It's kind of cut off the way we're set up now, but In your background, I don't know if you know this, but you have, I don't know what it is coming off. There's a thing by the door. It looks like it could be a light or an air thing, and then things coming off of it. It looks like the shape of a dog.
32 And like whatever the white thing is, is the head. Okay. That's an interesting take on it. Actually, that's a bunch of sea stars on a rope as a decoration. And the other thing is a non-toxic. I thought it was something like that. Yeah, for flying bugs. Like, you know, we get these mosquitoes in Florida. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So it's funny, though, because I was looking at it before we were set up like this, because right now you're cut off, so it's like only half of it. But yeah, those stars, it looks like legs and a tail, and then that's the head.
17 Okay. Here, Juan, we're going to put him full. Let's put him full. And you tell me, Juan. No, we need full, full. All the way full. There you go. Okay, you tell me, Juan. Does that look... Here, we'll even take the banner thing off. That's it, right? Look. The tail's not there. It's probably like a Weimaraner where it doesn't have the tail anymore. There you go. That's interesting. There you go. Let's put us all back now, Juan. See that? So it's the perfect background for your show, Bill.
59 There you go. I tried to make it that way. I. I think you should do like a contest. Look at my background. Do you see anything that looks like a pet besides the cat that's back there? That's in real life. Yes. You know, but it would be funny to see who notices or pays attention to Or if I'm just a weirdo, but Juan confirmed it for me. I don't feel like a weirdo anymore. It does look like, though, if it was the head of a dog, it would be kind of like a Mandalorian dog by the shape of that thing.
46 Yeah, like a Cyclops dog. Absolutely. It could be Astro. It could be Astro. Like a cyborg style of dog? Yeah, yeah. Actually, that would be true. Let's make the Pet Health Cafe movie and those could be like the robots in the movie. There you go. All right. Well, yeah. Fruits and veggies. Not a dog thing. Not a cat thing. Are there any dogs, are there any fruits or veggies that are good for dogs and cats?
28 Essentially, no, on a regular basis. But sometimes, especially dogs, because they're more of a scavenging type of animal, they'll eat inappropriate things to get basic energies and, you know, basic minerals, especially. You know, sometimes you get an animal that's low in potassium, they'll eat, you know, bananas or things like that. They'll usually tell you what the deficiency is, and that's what they'll go after. And then once we put them on a species-appropriate diet of good animal-based products, they won't touch it again, you know, because they just don't need it. They actually work off their natural cravings, which, you know, unfortunately in humans, we've been so polluted with excitotoxins and flavors and all that, that we can't even identify it anymore, what our body really needs.
23 We've seen a lot of videos of cats eating catnip and going crazy over catnip. Is there a reason why? Well, they're deficient in some of the minerals that those have. Especially cats that have been fed commercial foods they're devoid of usable minerals. And so they're basically, it's not that I'm getting high. It's just that they, oh my God, I got this rush of real good stuff that I can get in my body. And that's where they go. I also want to say we should do an episode one time of why dogs love peanut butter and why it's so humorous that they can't swallow it because they just keep licking it for hours.
13 Exactly. Let's do that as one of the episodes because I don't even know why that happens, but I think it might be interesting to people. We can have some episodes of the odd things like that that people give their pets to eat for their own entertainment. Because really, we know that humans give dogs peanut butter for their own entertainment just to watch them All right, well, good stuff. And you have any more questions for the Pet Health Guru Studio, Nat?
53 I think we covered pretty much everything for today. So don't give your guppy peanut butter or grapes. Hold on, let me write this down. Thanks a lot, Pet Health Guru. You are a wealth of knowledge. All kidding aside, everybody's got to check out my paleo pet, One of the best places on the planet for pets. Check out the Pet Health Cafe. The best show ever if you want to give your pet a voice. And I've known the Pet Health Guru for many years. And he is like the, he's our cheers version of Cliff Clavin. But when it comes to pets, he has all the information there is.
40 He's a walking encyclopedia to your pet's long life, healthy life, and fun life. So if you love your pets, you need to get in touch with the Pet Health Guru. Enough said. Thanks again. Thanks again, Pet Health Guru. And thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Roll it, Juan. Thank you for listening to The Adventures of Pipe Man on W4CY Radio.
