02 This is the Pipe Man here on the Adventures of Pipe Man W4CY radio in our Positively Pipe Man segment with our resident pet health and human health expert who's going to talk about medicine, placebo, or holistic health. We're going to do a little demystifying of homeopathy. So let's welcome to the show the pet health guru. Bill, how are you? I'm doing fine. We have a few technical glitches there. I don't know what it was about, but we worked through it. Anyway, thank you for having me. And yeah, it's an interesting topic, I think, because we think of things like homeopathy and acupuncture as alternative medicine. And is it really alternative or is it just something else?

52 Well, I kind of think Western medicine is the alternative since they were the originals. That's right. And that was a lot of that was being used, but a lot of people don't realize that all these so-called alternatives, acupuncture, homeopathy, herbal medicine, all these. Things are. Really still symptom-based treatment is the way they're looking at it. And therefore they can manipulate it. And doing the. Prep for this show, I looked at homeopathy and And they give you these little pellets usually to take, and they're diminishing the strength and create stuff. But when I looked into a simple product like Arnica for pain, when we really looked at it, there's about 15 different processes to make that pellet from the Arnica plant.

50 And the Arnica plant is actually poisonous. It's actually toxic. Wow. There's a lot of mystery behind what really goes on in homeopathy. Is it, you know, because it's not, well, they're talking about a changing life force, but a lot of the other things that they use in homeopathy are things like poisonous snake venom. So basically what they're doing is poisons to the body to create a reaction. Does it work? Sometimes? Maybe? Maybe. Possibly. I don't know. You know, I know Arnica seemed to work on pain and stuff like that, but still you have to look at the, not so much the immediate effect, but what's going to be the long-term effect of a buildup of that stuff in the body because it is so highly processed. Yeah.

49 I mean, First of all, the whole point of processing stuff is not healthy. I get poison in the body to test what works and what doesn't, but I don't get in using it in an actual application in real life. Yeah. I know when we have a stressful situation, whether it's a health challenge, pain, anything like that, we want results now. I want results now, but you know what? What caused those problems didn't happen a day.

30 Or two either. We're not essentially body to and heal itself. And that healing process has to go on from the inside out. Yeah. We can block. Pathways with homeopathy and with killers and things of that nature, but does that help the healing process? Exactly.

13 So, you know, that that's part of what we have to really look at. We want to get the healing process going for sure. And so we have, you know, we eventually end up going back to the same thing. Are we just treating symptoms or are we actually trying to cure? So what's your viewpoint? Is homeopathy really working on symptoms and not the cure? I mean, there is a difference between homeopathy and natural medicine, in my opinion, even though it's kind of interchangeable, but there, you know, People kind of use things like holistic homeopathy, naturopathy, like they're all interchangeable and they're all different.

57 They're all very, very different. Like I say, you know, the homeopathic remedies, of course, are processed. Do they work? Do they work on specific conditions that can change the energy? You know, of course, they talk about it as energy healing and it is changing the energy. But again, long term, you know, we have to look at that. where when we look at the body in itself as a whole, and that's the other part of that is, of course, it's a holistic approach, which we'll talk about on another show. But, you know, even the way they spell holistic, you know, it starts with H-O-L-E, a whole, not what it really is.

38 Which is W-H-O-L-E. It should be W-H-O-L-E. Yes, exactly, because we're looking at the encompassing the complete being, not the void. That's what a hole is, it's a void. And like I said, we'll get into that in another show. But when we're looking at homeopathy, does it have its applications? You know, sometimes, like I say, especially if you want more immediate results, but it doesn't offer immediate results either, which is another scary part of that because their approach is we'll try to, Like I say, most of them are made from toxins. We'll try this one today, we'll give it a week, and then we'll try another one, give it a week, try another one, until we find the right solution or combination thereof. And that can take a tremendous amount of time, and in that time, is the body healing.

36 Or getting worse? That's really no different than Western medicine, in my opinion, you know, because trial and error. And I can tell you, I've taken homeopathic stuff before. And what, what always used to blow my mind is like, you'd have this bottle of these little pills that look like candies and you're supposed to like eat like 20 of them. And I always wondered why, why don't you just make one pill that has all 20 in it? Like I never really got that. They look like little, like tiny tots pellets. Yeah. And I mean, whoever's prescribing, whoever the home homeopath is, you know, One might say to take five. One might say to take 20.

17 You know, it's. Kind of a very, you know, unregulated, unprescribed item that, like I say, because a lot of these are made from toxins and are highly processed, you know, your results are going to be all over the board. Yeah. And of course, because they are made with toxins, the body's going to reject a lot of that too. And I think that's partly how they're looking at. It working, is that while it's rejecting the homeopathic remedy, it's also rejecting whatever symptoms you might be having.

00 Exactly. And I'll tell you, for me personally, I never found any homeopathic medicines that really did anything for me. And you know me, I'm very into natural health. Right. To me, it was just like eating candy. It really didn't do anything for me. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like I say, certain ones, I've seen some results with it, but overall, um, you know, it's a specialty in, in, inside of medicine that is kind of accepted, kind of, you know, um, And, of course, when you do this, you know, you're paying a homeopath a lot of dollars for a consultation. And, of course, one of the complaints I get, especially with the veterinarian ones that we're using, is I don't bring in a dog. I need a history, which is what I do as well with the way I approach it. But that, you know, we're sitting there for a half hour. He asked a bunch of questions and. gives me these little tiny pills and a thing, and it's $ 250, $ 300.

07 Yeah. And then says, you know, let me know if it works. Wow. I don't want to hear that. Yeah. It's an expensive way of pushing, basically pushing the problem further down the road. I got to tell you, too, when you talk about, like, venom from snakes and other kind of poisons that they put in it, I think that's got to be more dangerous for pets than us as humans even. It can be, yes, because of the size. I mean, if a human would take, let's say, five of these little pellets, okay, and the dog takes five pellets, okay, our body weight can be as much as 20, 30, 40 times what that of that small dog is. Yeah.

59 so what they're doing on that little little Yorkie or that little Maltese you know great days I'm not as worried about but right exactly you know and as far as I know I haven't seen any studies that show that there aren't other side effects you know things like kidney and liver damage which is what most drugs do. It's kind of a mystery. Well I don't want any mysteries I want the pet health guru to you know clear up those mysteries so how do people reach out to you check out your podcast so that they can get the real deal on whatever somebody is suggesting to them.

43 Well of course we always want you to go to my paleo pet which is a retail store and website, mypaleopet.com. All our products are there. We do all natural stuff, natural herbs, good clean food, farm-to-table on protein, and clean air, clean water. We do a whole bunch of different products. Also, they can reach me, of course, on the Pet Health Cafe, which is our podcast, live every Thursday night at 8 o'clock on these stations and YouTube and several others. 24-7 on dozens of different platforms. I always recommend people go there first if you want to start learning about it.

30 See what we do actually on the Pet Health Cafe because we explain this stuff. Then you can come in with your questions formulated, at least some idea of what you're walking into because I usually give so much information that people are just like overwhelmed. I don't even know where to start. Yeah. So that is a good place to start. And, and, you know, once you start narrowing down your scope, what the problems are with your pet or yourself, because we work on both sides, we'll be happy to help you. Well, thank you once again for all your great information.
