Actually, I think some one of the artists, I won't say it live on the air, but he was getting chased by the cops already already driving on the speedway.

0:48 Oh. So, have you ever played Welcome to Rockville? Because it's been I don't think you've played it before it ever? Right, No, there's our first one. Yeah, so what was what's it like? What's it like being here as the artists? I'll be honest, you can't ask me that question because I leave myself off and I'm a whole different person going in. I love that you said that, because I talk about that all the time, same as a radio person. Once that MC goes on, there's a switch in your brain. And like everybody thinks that artists are like these super extroverts, and really it's exactly what you said when you get up on stage, you just go into this zone and it's just like you're somebody else. So it's cool hearing it from you. And so you guys have like really come a long way and you're here again. So tell us a little bit for the listeners the story of your journey to get here to welcome to Rockville.

1:48 Yeah, I mean, man, it is like going on decades now, and then there was just like a resting period for a while and then resurface brought it back up or like really just focus on new material as well, just like trying to continue things moving forward. So that's exciting to just continue to build off of everything that's already been worked on. Yeah, and you kind of evolve, right as musicians. I think when you go through those roller coaster rides, you get that to the other side, you kind of find out who you really are as an artist and how you can gel as a band. So I'd like to call it you revisit your identity.

2:28 Yeah, it's funny. That's why I say about midlife crisis, Like people say, midlife crisis is not crisis. It's just you finally become you when you don't give a crap what anybody thinks. You're not trying to prove anything. Anybody, you're just doing you just. Focus on making you happy, exactly. I wish the whole world would just do that, like. And if it's meant to be enjoyed, it'll be enjoyed, exactly. And especially in this business if you're a musician, if you're not enjoying it, it's the wrong business. You guys, have smiles on your face. It seems like Welcome to Rockville brought that joy. Oh yeah, oh yeah. It brings back lots of fun memories and just being able to do this type of show. It means a lot bringing it back and everything from Warp Tour to here and everything, because it is such a different vibe doing a festival like this, even compared to Warp Tour, it's a totally different feel.

3:19 Does it trip you out that Warp Tour is back? Very much? So I'm really curious just to see, like if it feels like these festivals or if it feels like Warp Tour. I know, right, yeah, because Warp Tour I've always said it's like a traveling summer camp exactly. Yeah, it's even cool as media. So when I used to cover Warp Tour. The first year, I was like, what do you mean I can't schedule in your views ahead time? Like in my head not to that, But in my head, I'm like, how the fuck am I going to do that? And then the first year I did, I'm like, I wish all. The festivals would do it this way, like took all the stress off, all the pressure. I don't have to worry about anything. I show up, sign up on form and they would like, put me in a trail or just bring bands to me.

4:03 It was like, that's easy. Yep. Posted a back and forth scheduling it, and it's weird too. I always thought, man, it's really tough on the artist to show up and not even know what time they're playing. Yeah, like Warp Tour was always a whirlwind. You show up. I mean, you wake up and you don't even know. You don't know what your day looks like until you get out of your bunk or wherever you went to bed, right and you might be first on your stage that day, and then you got pressed right after you got to make time for catering. Your entire day is planned in the instant you open your eyes. I don't even know yet if they're doing it the same way, it's time around. I'm supposed to probably recover them, but I don't know how they're going I wonder if they're going to do it the same way or maybe like this, like you said.

4:47 Yeah, I mean it seems like the first ones are more just festival style like this because standalone dates exactly. So what else do you have going on in twenty twenty five that the listeners need to know about and look out for? As I just said before, a new identity to the band. We have new music coming out, new tours. We're going all over the place for the year. Tell us a little bit about the new music. Give us a little not what it is, but how is it same or different than it's ever been. A little more like, how should I say it? We're gonna keep things as it used to be with today's modern day music style. That's a good way to put it, for sure.

5:27 And one story, good or bad through your whole journey of music, why you think it would be that you would. Remember, oh boy, New Orleans, what happened there two days ago? Days ago? And what we like to call every show of the tour. We just like to call it a practice show, right, first show, you know, on the tour. So it's just like we don't know what kind of malfunctions we're gonna deal with, and that day was just a complete shit. Show, and that's to be expected to. Yeah, and again, practice show for a reason, right to happen, and then then to tab at a place like Rockville. No doubt Music's I had a picture? Now, what's your passion?

6:08 One of those like DIY dads Like when I'm home, I'm always making something or I don't know it's funny. I wasn't. I wasn't handy at all as a kid. I just forced myself into it because it's too expensive to pay someone else to do it right exactly. And do you have something that you absolutely love to do to make. I definitely like more like wood, like woodworking type stuff. Like if somebody asked me to do plumbing, I'm like, no, I'm hiring someone electric Nope. Right, But I'm like, if it involves wood somewhere around your house, I'll mess with that. So what would you say is your favorite project that you've done? Oh? Man, at hire House, I didn't build it, but pretty much every room I've done something. It's a lot of like accent type stuff and percolas and stuff like that.

6:53 But then again, you know, it's like a passion for me. It's fun. I like to see other people happy, and I like. To have other people bec comfort and enjoy their surroundings. See, I loved it. I like to hear the other stuff because nobody really talks about what's yours. This one's a little more interesting for me. So I feel like I'm connected to the world. So I'm all about the energy. I'm always people watching observing that that's how I am. So whatever makes them happy makes me happy just seeing them be them kids, other people. Just live your life, see, And that's why I always say all the time, just be you. There doesn't have to be like I don't get so many people that like think about things that never affect them in their life, about what other people are fucking doing. Okay, Like it doesn't even affect your life in any way, sharp or form.

7:46 If it makes the person happy and they're not hurting anybody intentionally, who gives a fuck to be blos? I think the world is just trying to be too perfect nowadays. And the thing is, if you didn't make any mistakes that you really live. No doubt. Like, and I was a teenager in the eighties. I thank god I didn't have a there a cell phones or internet or no, there's no record of the stupid. I'm pretty sure I say that line to my kids, to my daughter's at least once a week, like I'm all, like, you count your lucky stars that I didn't have a phone, so that so that you don't know all the stupid shit I did, no doubt. And you know what's funny is nowadays people put the stupid ship on there on purpose.

8:28 It's what it is. It's a it's a grasp of attention thing. Oh no, nodad we didn't have We had to do it a different way back in the day. And even with music, Okay, come on, let's look at the difference. In some ways it's better for you guys as musicians, but other ways, I think. It's just a lot more work. Like I think about being a band back of the eighties, and you don't have to do all the work you guys gotta do. You gotta work way harder. Is that a real thing, because I don't think you know, with all social media it would have happened either. We had there, Yeah, we had in our phone calls. We got to go ahead and meet up with said person at said time. You missed that, you missed it. There is no rescheduling until you call the person back when you're home.

9:08 There's a good pointing. I love that it gets a little easier as you go. I think I grew up in the right era where we had to do tours back to back to back in order to gain all this. Yeah, man just posted. About social media on TikTok for us to just be like, oh, they call your attention. Now, we're the TikTok band. Now, we're the we're in a TikTok band now, but we came from a different error. See now you're the best of both worlds, correct, because it is both worlds. Like I'm a total techie and like I remember one day I was calling my door. I'm like, some days I just want to drive down the road and throw my laptop, iPad and phone out the window and keep driving. She's like, Dad, who you came? You're more addicted than anybody. I'm like, yeah, but I lived there in time. I ain't have all this shit and in some ways it was a lot better. It's give and take. There's better now and I think the evolution is what makes it great. And at least there are artists out there that can make music now that didn't have that chance before. We had all this stuff and a way to connect. So how do your fans?

10:06 How my fans connect to you? Tell them how to connect to your socials, website, by your merch because they can't listen to my show. And listen by your merch because that's the only way you survive, all right. Well, well, yeah, I mean, of course the Instagram, Facebook, We've got a skylardriveofficial dot com that's where any official merchandise is. Yeah, I mean, we definitely plan on having new music out this year. That's our biggest focus is that rebirth. I love it. Can't wait for the new music. So everybody's got to definitely connect with you so that they can know when it happens and. Get it wherever they're gonna get it. Absolutely.
