We are at Shawshank Prison aka Ohio State Reformatory for the 2025 Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival. Crossfade is playing and came backstage in the Press / Artist Lounge to talk with Pipeman Radio of W4CY Radio about what it is like to perform at such an iconic location where Shawshank Redemption was filmed. This closed down prison is known to be haunted so when you go to Blood Prison who knows what will happen.

Hy you have lunto Yes, that's true. Wow, crazy you.

2
00:00:15.119 --> 00:00:20.719
Incarceration America's Rock, Metal and Tattoo Festival. It's pipe Man

3
00:00:20.760 --> 00:00:23.199
here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y

4
00:00:23.399 --> 00:00:24.440
Radio and I'm here.

5
00:00:24.239 --> 00:00:29.760
With Mitch Less. Oh Carls Fade.

6
00:00:30.039 --> 00:00:34.920
Nice you're an incarceration, Like, thanks for coming to prison.

7
00:00:36.159 --> 00:00:38.560
It's I'm a person. Last time I hope in prison.

8
00:00:39.520 --> 00:00:42.240
Well yeah, well I don't know. I like coming to

9
00:00:42.320 --> 00:00:46.479
this prison. Every year, fucking Shawshank Prison. Out Iconic Is

10
00:00:46.520 --> 00:00:49.200
had to perform at Shawshank Prison.

11
00:00:49.320 --> 00:00:50.600
It was incredible being here.

12
00:00:50.640 --> 00:00:53.079
I will say the prison might have halted our gear

13
00:00:53.200 --> 00:00:57.200
because it was all broken. We had no inner monitors,

14
00:00:57.399 --> 00:01:01.200
no anything to change our patches and other was stuff

15
00:01:01.280 --> 00:01:02.399
going on, but it was still a.

16
00:01:02.320 --> 00:01:03.119
Blasket out there.

17
00:01:03.119 --> 00:01:05.719
But we had to kill unfortunately half of our set

18
00:01:06.200 --> 00:01:07.120
with all the timing.

19
00:01:07.400 --> 00:01:10.799
Which inmates did you piss off? Mitch?

20
00:01:10.840 --> 00:01:12.079
Sure, the one that did it, So you have to

21
00:01:12.159 --> 00:01:14.359
answer that one. A little angel right here.

22
00:01:14.439 --> 00:01:17.480
Because you know this it really is haunted for real.

23
00:01:17.680 --> 00:01:19.319
I know. Yeah, we're taking a tour today.

24
00:01:19.319 --> 00:01:23.400
Actually yeah, you won't know whether it's to get characters

25
00:01:24.120 --> 00:01:24.840
or it's.

26
00:01:24.760 --> 00:01:27.599
A real ghost. Right when you go through it, and

27
00:01:27.640 --> 00:01:29.079
then it's a fucking killer tour.

28
00:01:29.200 --> 00:01:32.480
Twice I heard that you guys kicked asst So tell

29
00:01:32.560 --> 00:01:35.439
our listeners who have never heard you guys or seen

30
00:01:35.519 --> 00:01:39.120
you live, what they can expect from your live show

31
00:01:39.239 --> 00:01:43.280
and how you had the artists describe your music well.

32
00:01:43.519 --> 00:01:47.359
Barring today from all of this explanation, typically is the

33
00:01:47.400 --> 00:01:50.319
great lap show. Lots of loud vocals, lots of cool

34
00:01:50.359 --> 00:01:53.120
things on stage going on, and a lot of reminiscing.

35
00:01:53.640 --> 00:01:55.560
Every time we go to a show now to play

36
00:01:55.799 --> 00:01:58.719
it's the old forty year old dude and his fourteen

37
00:01:58.760 --> 00:02:02.359
year old son at the show who was not even

38
00:02:02.599 --> 00:02:06.439
considered when our songs came out to begin with. It's

39
00:02:06.439 --> 00:02:09.080
fun to see the dynamics of I'm going to see

40
00:02:09.080 --> 00:02:11.800
what dad loves and then them falling in love with

41
00:02:11.840 --> 00:02:13.840
it too. So it's a it's really cool thing to

42
00:02:13.879 --> 00:02:16.240
see still seeing some of the same people we saw

43
00:02:16.479 --> 00:02:20.039
since four showing up at our shows. It's really cool, man,

44
00:02:20.120 --> 00:02:22.039
and we're just thrilled to be back out at it.

45
00:02:22.639 --> 00:02:25.960
And I love that about today this world.

46
00:02:26.560 --> 00:02:29.159
Like in the eighties when I was going to metal shows,

47
00:02:29.680 --> 00:02:32.319
you didn't see people my age or your age at

48
00:02:32.360 --> 00:02:34.719
the shows nor in the bands.

49
00:02:34.800 --> 00:02:36.439
Like it blows my mind when I.

50
00:02:36.400 --> 00:02:39.280
Go out there under these kids that are going to

51
00:02:39.400 --> 00:02:45.159
shows for bands that are like forties, fifties, sixties or

52
00:02:45.240 --> 00:02:47.560
like you look at back to the beginning and all

53
00:02:47.599 --> 00:02:49.879
the kids out in the crowd for Ozzy. I mean, like,

54
00:02:50.000 --> 00:02:52.360
I think it's a fucking phenomenal thing.

55
00:02:52.439 --> 00:02:54.280
Yeah, so it seems to be a revival.

56
00:02:54.639 --> 00:02:57.159
A lot of early two thousand bands are kind of

57
00:02:57.159 --> 00:02:59.039
crushing it right now. I know we're all here for

58
00:02:59.080 --> 00:03:00.919
it because we're right there with them.

59
00:03:01.280 --> 00:03:01.479
You know.

60
00:03:01.639 --> 00:03:03.800
I think that's what the difference is, what you were

61
00:03:03.840 --> 00:03:08.199
describing before. Like when I was a teenager, my dad

62
00:03:08.240 --> 00:03:12.360
listened like Frank Sinatra or whatever, and he didn't understand

63
00:03:12.360 --> 00:03:13.520
my music at.

64
00:03:13.319 --> 00:03:14.439
All, you know.

65
00:03:14.879 --> 00:03:18.759
But now it's like the adults that are listening to

66
00:03:18.800 --> 00:03:22.599
the shit and then the kids are like brought into it.

67
00:03:22.879 --> 00:03:23.719
And I love that.

68
00:03:23.879 --> 00:03:26.960
Yeah, Yeah, there's a yeah, there's a thing with music

69
00:03:27.039 --> 00:03:28.919
and a period. All of us kind of grew up

70
00:03:28.919 --> 00:03:31.840
on that early nineties crune sound and it kind of

71
00:03:31.879 --> 00:03:34.639
shaped this band for sure, And I think it's always

72
00:03:34.680 --> 00:03:37.080
going to be like that, just looking back and thinking

73
00:03:37.120 --> 00:03:39.919
about all the other bands that kind of inspired you,

74
00:03:40.000 --> 00:03:42.120
and hopefully we're still one of those bands for all

75
00:03:42.120 --> 00:03:45.840
these new generation of Shredders growing up right now.

76
00:03:46.039 --> 00:03:48.080
I think you are because when I talk to a

77
00:03:48.199 --> 00:03:51.919
young man's they're always talking about the older bands, not

78
00:03:52.000 --> 00:03:55.280
their contemporaries or just above them. It's like they're talking

79
00:03:55.280 --> 00:03:57.719
about the eighties nineties bands, you know.

80
00:03:59.159 --> 00:04:03.840
So what's now after incarceration? Well?

81
00:04:03.879 --> 00:04:06.639
I never know that, So I asked today and I

82
00:04:06.680 --> 00:04:09.080
was told one thing, but they answered a different question

83
00:04:09.199 --> 00:04:10.159
that I did not ask.

84
00:04:10.360 --> 00:04:15.599
So is it louder? Oh, louder than life? It's gonna

85
00:04:15.840 --> 00:04:16.600
louder than light.

86
00:04:17.319 --> 00:04:20.519
Yeah, see, I'll be down too, were cancer.

87
00:04:20.920 --> 00:04:24.680
We're actually playing Minnesota next week with Seven Dusts.

88
00:04:24.120 --> 00:04:25.279
For a festival up there.

89
00:04:25.720 --> 00:04:26.199
Very cool.

90
00:04:26.319 --> 00:04:29.279
And then then louder than life, right, louder than life?

91
00:04:29.600 --> 00:04:31.519
Yeah, it's louder than life Louisville.

92
00:04:31.680 --> 00:04:35.920
Yes, it's a great fucking festival and another Danny Wimmer festival.

93
00:04:36.399 --> 00:04:38.639
Now that's why why I ask you. I asked all.

94
00:04:38.560 --> 00:04:45.040
Artists, how does Danny Wimmer treat you guys as artists?

95
00:04:45.079 --> 00:04:46.120
Awesome? Danny's the man.

96
00:04:46.160 --> 00:04:49.040
He's been great to us this entire time. Just putting

97
00:04:49.120 --> 00:04:51.959
us on the bill is awesome. Just for us to

98
00:04:51.959 --> 00:04:55.720
get out here for these shows to be the first

99
00:04:56.000 --> 00:05:02.079
reunion comeback is amazing, is incredible experience. He definitely has

100
00:05:02.079 --> 00:05:03.720
hooked us up. So it's been awesome.

101
00:05:03.920 --> 00:05:06.279
And it did blow your mind that you're out there

102
00:05:06.319 --> 00:05:10.600
and there's this like sea of fucking people, especially it's

103
00:05:10.680 --> 00:05:13.439
earlier in the day, and it's like, you don't expect that.

104
00:05:13.560 --> 00:05:14.360
I didn't expect that.

105
00:05:14.439 --> 00:05:16.000
I didn't think people would be out of the parking

106
00:05:16.040 --> 00:05:18.519
lot or bed at that hour, you know, right first

107
00:05:18.560 --> 00:05:22.279
when we did, there's probably thirty thousand people out there. Wow,

108
00:05:22.560 --> 00:05:26.000
first show in twelve and a half thirteen years.

109
00:05:26.000 --> 00:05:29.160
Does that blow your fucking mind? Or what? I love it?

110
00:05:29.160 --> 00:05:32.360
It kind of confirms too why you should be back

111
00:05:32.480 --> 00:05:34.879
right you know, and it makes you want to do

112
00:05:34.959 --> 00:05:37.600
it more because you are unsure when you come back

113
00:05:37.639 --> 00:05:42.160
after that long of a hiatus, like anybody even care anymore,

114
00:05:42.879 --> 00:05:46.480
and now you know they do. So how do people

115
00:05:46.519 --> 00:05:48.800
reach out to you guys on socials on the web

116
00:05:49.439 --> 00:05:52.800
and check out all your tour dance music merch all that.

117
00:05:52.920 --> 00:05:57.399
At cross Fate Official I believe on Instagram, Cross Fate

118
00:05:57.480 --> 00:06:03.279
Official on cross Fade Official on Facebook and then Crossfadeband

119
