Metalcore Band Breathe In Release New Single  "Misfortune's Hand" + Official Music Video.

The rising force in metalcore, Breathe In, released their electrifying new single “Misfortune’s Hand”. Bridging the ferocity of American metalcore with the cinematic precision of Japanese metal and visual kei, the track delivers an immersive and sonically devastating experience that defines the band’s signature Visual Metalcore sound.

With “Misfortune’s Hand,” Breathe In channels the intensity of Bad Omens and Orbit Culture, the visual grandeur of Black Veil Brides, and the artistic flair of Japanese legends The GazettE and Hyde. The result is a track that’s both crushing and theatrical.

Brian Kang shares, "For me, 'Misfortune’s Hand' represents the continuation and confidence of our new/current lineup. Our last single was a reintroduction of our band (we went through a lineup change prior). This one is about carrying the baton forward. We wanted something instrumentally and lyrically intense to showcase our accelerating momentum."

The music video, available on YouTube, was directed by the band's drummer, Paul Illge Jr. His in-house production crew, who have collectively worked across the film industry with various professional credits, serve as the creative backbone behind all of Breathe In’s visual projects. The video was shot in Brooklyn, NY, bringing the band’s artistic vision to life.       “

Misfortune's Hand” is now available on all major streaming platforms.   Hailing from the heart of the tri-state, Breathe In brings together raw talents from New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Philly. Fusing the aggressive edge of American metal with the precision and artistry of Japanese metal, their sound is as cinematic as it is intense, built to leave a mark both visually and sonically. Formed by five seasoned musicians who have weathered the ever-shifting tides of the music industry, Breathe In is united by a shared mission to bring an intense, sonic experience like no other. The band is made up of vocalist Shola Aurora, guitarists Brian Kang & Topeng, bassist Rob Gnarly, and drummer Paul Illge Jr.

Hi, you live done to censure for Wow, Crazy Young.

2
00:00:30.600 --> 00:00:32.920
This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe

3
00:00:32.960 --> 00:00:35.399
Man W four c Y Radio, and I'm here with

4
00:00:35.479 --> 00:00:40.200
our next guest who has some badass new music. Uh so,

5
00:00:40.439 --> 00:00:43.479
let's talk to Paul from breathe In. How are you hey?

6
00:00:43.560 --> 00:00:44.799
Good dude? Thanks for having me.

7
00:00:45.439 --> 00:00:47.880
Oh my pleasure, And I gotta tell you right off

8
00:00:47.880 --> 00:00:50.840
the bat. One thing I'm impressed with as somebody's front

9
00:00:51.079 --> 00:00:53.960
born in New York, grew up in Jersey, the fact

10
00:00:54.000 --> 00:00:57.159
that you're like a tri state area band and actually

11
00:00:57.200 --> 00:01:05.799
get along is pretty damn Yeah. Ah man, I know

12
00:01:05.920 --> 00:01:09.359
you've gone through different lineups and you have your current

13
00:01:09.400 --> 00:01:14.640
lineup now with this new single, Misfortune's Hand. Tell us

14
00:01:16.159 --> 00:01:20.040
what makes this so much more exciting for you now

15
00:01:20.239 --> 00:01:22.439
compared to any time in your band's history.

16
00:01:23.359 --> 00:01:26.400
Well, I mean, I think for me personally, the thing

17
00:01:26.400 --> 00:01:30.040
that's really exciting about this one was we had this

18
00:01:30.359 --> 00:01:35.159
demo written since like beginning of twenty twenty three, and

19
00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:38.680
it was immediately like one of my favorite songs, and

20
00:01:38.719 --> 00:01:40.159
I was like, we gotta get this song out. I

21
00:01:40.159 --> 00:01:42.480
gotta get this out. So for me, this is extremely

22
00:01:42.519 --> 00:01:46.280
exciting because the song is finally out, it's done, and

23
00:01:46.359 --> 00:01:48.400
it's one of my favorite songs I've ever worked on

24
00:01:48.439 --> 00:01:55.480
in my entire career. Oh nice, but yeah, and the

25
00:01:55.519 --> 00:01:58.200
new guys, well they're not really new anymore, but Shola

26
00:01:58.200 --> 00:02:04.280
and Topeng when they joined last year, this obviously this

27
00:02:04.280 --> 00:02:10.280
this song was on the docket, and they added such

28
00:02:10.280 --> 00:02:13.360
a great flare to the original demo and just turned

29
00:02:13.360 --> 00:02:17.800
it into something It's so good, man, just so powerful

30
00:02:17.919 --> 00:02:23.280
and so like, I don't know, just added added a

31
00:02:23.280 --> 00:02:25.840
whole new depth of the emotion to the song too, you.

32
00:02:25.800 --> 00:02:30.319
Know, I think too, like you know, after seeing a

33
00:02:30.360 --> 00:02:34.560
lot of bands that you know that most bands don't

34
00:02:34.639 --> 00:02:38.719
really like make it as the original lineup, that's like

35
00:02:38.759 --> 00:02:42.000
the foundation. And then I was thinking about it on

36
00:02:42.039 --> 00:02:45.199
the way to the studio earlier to do this interview, as

37
00:02:45.240 --> 00:02:49.319
I was listening to Metallica and I was listening to

38
00:02:49.599 --> 00:02:54.240
a live thing of Cliff, and I'm like, man, can

39
00:02:54.280 --> 00:02:56.960
you imagine if McGovney was still in the band and

40
00:02:57.000 --> 00:02:59.639
Cliff never entered the band, would we even know who

41
00:02:59.680 --> 00:03:01.639
mate is today? Yeah?

42
00:03:01.719 --> 00:03:05.520
No, I think you're right. I mean, yeah, he was

43
00:03:05.680 --> 00:03:09.280
killer man, I mean yeah, no, I see what you're saying.

44
00:03:09.719 --> 00:03:13.240
You know, it's like, I'm not even listen, I saw

45
00:03:13.319 --> 00:03:15.840
Metallica with mcgoverny in the band. I'm not even saying

46
00:03:15.919 --> 00:03:20.520
mcgoverney was a bad bassis. Yeah, it's just sometimes that

47
00:03:20.759 --> 00:03:24.879
chemistry between members, Like I think even the thing with

48
00:03:25.080 --> 00:03:29.759
having both Lars and Mustaine in the same band is

49
00:03:29.840 --> 00:03:33.000
way too much ego for one band. Okay. Yeah, so

50
00:03:33.319 --> 00:03:37.280
again perfect example of like people could say, oh, if

51
00:03:37.400 --> 00:03:40.560
Mustaine was still in the band, well, no, maybe they

52
00:03:40.560 --> 00:03:44.080
wouldn't be Metallica today, and maybe you wouldn't have such

53
00:03:44.159 --> 00:03:45.719
great Megadeth music either.

54
00:03:46.199 --> 00:03:49.319
Yeah, yeah, no, I totally agree.

55
00:03:49.439 --> 00:03:52.680
I mean it makes sense, and I love that I

56
00:03:52.800 --> 00:03:57.000
read something. This is like some heavy duty kudos that

57
00:03:57.159 --> 00:04:03.919
this song it channels I'm gonna read exactly, it channels

58
00:04:03.960 --> 00:04:08.520
the intensity of bad Homans and orbit culture, the visual

59
00:04:08.560 --> 00:04:13.319
grandeur of Black Veil Brides, and the artistic flare of

60
00:04:13.479 --> 00:04:18.720
Japanese legends the Gazette and Hide. That is definitely a

61
00:04:18.839 --> 00:04:23.839
mouthful of probably the best praise you could ever get.

62
00:04:24.319 --> 00:04:33.000
Yeah, thank you, right, I mean, oh.

63
00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:34.639
Well, there we go there in the interview, like it

64
00:04:34.639 --> 00:04:36.879
would be the first time, and it's certainly not gonna

65
00:04:36.879 --> 00:04:40.800
be the last. I think. I think the cat agrees.

66
00:04:41.279 --> 00:04:44.000
Oh yeah, definitely, yeah, no, she well she has to

67
00:04:44.040 --> 00:04:45.680
agree because she hears it all the time.

68
00:04:45.839 --> 00:04:48.319
I know, right, And I do want to know that.

69
00:04:48.800 --> 00:04:51.399
How does the cat react to the song?

70
00:04:52.000 --> 00:04:57.319
You know, she she loves it. She's very energetic and

71
00:04:57.399 --> 00:04:59.759
she she loves the energetic music.

72
00:05:00.600 --> 00:05:03.600
I love it. I love it. So I think it

73
00:05:03.600 --> 00:05:05.959
would be kind of cool if you could go to

74
00:05:06.040 --> 00:05:08.879
like a metal festival or something and like bring your

75
00:05:08.920 --> 00:05:13.279
pet and yeah, like a cat mosh pit, a dog

76
00:05:13.399 --> 00:05:14.120
mash pet.

77
00:05:14.600 --> 00:05:17.000
Yeah that's right.

78
00:05:17.920 --> 00:05:21.480
You know how funny would that be? I mean, like

79
00:05:21.759 --> 00:05:24.639
that would be pretty cool though. And a lot of people,

80
00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:29.720
like a lot of metal heads, you know, that's their basically,

81
00:05:30.199 --> 00:05:34.560
that's their support system is those pets. So it'd be

82
00:05:34.600 --> 00:05:36.519
cool to have a mental festivals and like have a

83
00:05:37.079 --> 00:05:39.360
have an area. I think this is a new idea,

84
00:05:39.560 --> 00:05:44.319
like a koreand New festival where there's like a pet area. Okay, right,

85
00:05:45.639 --> 00:05:49.600
I know that would be cool. So what started you

86
00:05:49.680 --> 00:05:53.439
on this whole journey, like from the very way back

87
00:05:53.519 --> 00:05:56.680
beginning of you know, becoming a musician.

88
00:05:57.959 --> 00:06:01.759
It was so when I was very really young, my

89
00:06:01.839 --> 00:06:06.360
mom used to play the Beatles and the Monkeys and

90
00:06:06.920 --> 00:06:10.199
all these you know, those classic bands and everything, Elvis

91
00:06:10.240 --> 00:06:15.399
and all that, And what was funny is like I've

92
00:06:15.439 --> 00:06:17.560
always kind of felt I've always loved that music, and

93
00:06:17.600 --> 00:06:20.040
I still do, but I've always felt there was like

94
00:06:20.079 --> 00:06:23.279
a piece that was missing. And like, of course, when

95
00:06:23.319 --> 00:06:25.079
I was like, you know, five or six years old,

96
00:06:25.639 --> 00:06:30.160
I couldn't place what I needed to hear. Yeah, I

97
00:06:30.240 --> 00:06:33.439
knew I wanted something like deeper, something heavier, something like

98
00:06:33.480 --> 00:06:35.879
a little bit more distortion. Obviously I was five years old,

99
00:06:35.879 --> 00:06:39.600
so I didn't really know how anything like that until

100
00:06:39.680 --> 00:06:45.399
I saw in the basement this amazing cover art number

101
00:06:45.439 --> 00:06:46.759
of the Beasts by Iron Maiden.

102
00:06:47.120 --> 00:06:47.439
Wow.

103
00:06:47.560 --> 00:06:51.079
I saw the record and I was like, this looks

104
00:06:51.800 --> 00:06:53.839
I remember it left such a huge impression on me.

105
00:06:54.079 --> 00:06:57.160
Put it in the record player and it changed my life.

106
00:06:57.199 --> 00:06:57.399
Man.

107
00:06:57.519 --> 00:06:59.920
That was like everything I wanted to hear out of music.

108
00:07:00.279 --> 00:07:05.120
And the drums specifically, I know Clive Burg worked on

109
00:07:05.360 --> 00:07:09.720
was the drummer for that album, but uh yeah, man,

110
00:07:10.319 --> 00:07:12.720
that was like something I've never heard before, especially like

111
00:07:14.040 --> 00:07:14.959
how it would be their name.

112
00:07:15.360 --> 00:07:17.279
Oh yeah, that's the most amazing song.

113
00:07:17.600 --> 00:07:20.560
Yeah, It's like that's what was like. Oh I didn't

114
00:07:20.600 --> 00:07:22.279
realize because you know, I was used to listening to,

115
00:07:22.399 --> 00:07:24.120
you know, like the Beatles, you know, and Ringo is

116
00:07:24.120 --> 00:07:25.920
great and all, and I love them too, but it's

117
00:07:25.959 --> 00:07:29.519
like there was there was something, there's something in that

118
00:07:30.319 --> 00:07:32.319
number of the Beast album that like spoke to me

119
00:07:33.319 --> 00:07:35.399
and I was it. I was hooked. I was a

120
00:07:35.399 --> 00:07:36.319
metal head ever since.

121
00:07:36.839 --> 00:07:40.920
Well, you know, it's funny that you mentioned like Ringo

122
00:07:41.000 --> 00:07:43.680
because I played drums while I was a kid, and

123
00:07:44.040 --> 00:07:46.800
two of my idols that made me want to start

124
00:07:46.839 --> 00:07:51.959
playing drums were Ringo Starr and Peter Cress. And it's funny.

125
00:07:52.000 --> 00:07:54.920
I just saw Ringo Starr play at a festival a

126
00:07:54.920 --> 00:07:58.279
couple of months ago that I was covering at Bourbon Beyond,

127
00:07:58.720 --> 00:08:02.720
and uh, I'm I'm watching and I'm like, you know,

128
00:08:03.199 --> 00:08:07.079
Ringo is a great drummer, always has been. But it's

129
00:08:07.160 --> 00:08:09.639
like you made me think of that. It's like it's

130
00:08:09.680 --> 00:08:14.480
so basic, that like basic beat. And then I was

131
00:08:14.519 --> 00:08:18.759
at the first Slayer show and saw Lombardo and I'm like, no,

132
00:08:19.160 --> 00:08:22.759
that's a drummer. Yeah, yeah, you know.

133
00:08:23.199 --> 00:08:24.160
Yeah, that's what I mean.

134
00:08:24.240 --> 00:08:28.000
Yeah, it's like so different, but that's how we was

135
00:08:28.079 --> 00:08:30.160
way back, and I think that's the key. A lot

136
00:08:30.240 --> 00:08:33.200
of people don't realize that metal heads have this strong

137
00:08:33.440 --> 00:08:37.200
basis in all of the original rock and roll. Like

138
00:08:37.240 --> 00:08:40.600
they think we're just into oh, only the scream o

139
00:08:40.759 --> 00:08:44.000
stuff as people would put it, you know, and we

140
00:08:44.159 --> 00:08:48.120
all have that foundation, you know, we all have the foundation.

141
00:08:48.559 --> 00:08:53.240
I think Helter Skelter was a heavy metal song of

142
00:08:53.279 --> 00:08:56.759
its time, yeah, type of thing, you know. But then

143
00:08:56.799 --> 00:08:59.960
there was that progression, like you said, like I remember,

144
00:09:00.120 --> 00:09:02.399
I was into Beatles and Kiss, and then I was

145
00:09:02.440 --> 00:09:05.919
into Zeppelin, and then I was into Ozzy, and then

146
00:09:05.960 --> 00:09:11.080
I was into you know, Metallic and Slayer and wait

147
00:09:11.240 --> 00:09:14.360
before that, into Iron Maid and Press. And it's like

148
00:09:14.799 --> 00:09:18.399
there has been this progression over the past so many

149
00:09:18.559 --> 00:09:22.480
years that really people think we're just into this, but

150
00:09:22.879 --> 00:09:24.600
we like a lot more than that. It's just the

151
00:09:24.759 --> 00:09:27.759
metal hits our soul. Yeah that's the difference.

152
00:09:28.320 --> 00:09:31.919
Yeah, well, yeah, that's exactly. That's the perfect way to

153
00:09:31.960 --> 00:09:32.879
word it. Yeah, it does.

154
00:09:34.159 --> 00:09:40.960
So. Also, your video is badass, and you did double

155
00:09:41.039 --> 00:09:42.840
work in that, right Yeah.

156
00:09:43.000 --> 00:09:47.879
Yeah. I direct all of our stuff, I edit all

157
00:09:47.919 --> 00:09:52.519
of our stuff. Also I'm in the video too, so

158
00:09:52.559 --> 00:09:55.679
my my film crew. I've been working with these guys

159
00:09:55.720 --> 00:09:59.080
for a long long time, and not only are we

160
00:09:59.200 --> 00:10:01.360
like great friends, but they're just like some of the

161
00:10:01.399 --> 00:10:03.679
most talented people like in the field that I know,

162
00:10:04.440 --> 00:10:06.799
and just having them work with us is such an

163
00:10:06.960 --> 00:10:12.120
enormous help on all of our productions. So yeah, I

164
00:10:13.360 --> 00:10:16.000
you know, we literally we can't do anything without them,

165
00:10:16.039 --> 00:10:18.559
like they're they're the backbone to our productions, you know.

166
00:10:19.200 --> 00:10:21.639
I love it. Yeah, and I love that was shot

167
00:10:21.679 --> 00:10:23.840
in Brooklyn because I look at the video and it's

168
00:10:23.879 --> 00:10:27.600
like watching home movies of the days of hardcore in

169
00:10:27.639 --> 00:10:32.320
Brooklyn back way. Yeah, so very cool. Tell everybody how

170
00:10:32.320 --> 00:10:34.480
they reach out to you on socials, on the web,

171
00:10:34.559 --> 00:10:37.080
how they check out the new song and everything else

172
00:10:37.120 --> 00:10:37.519
that you have.

173
00:10:38.080 --> 00:10:41.879
Yeah, so the new song, the music videos on YouTube obviously,

174
00:10:41.919 --> 00:10:45.320
the song is called Misfortune's Hand. Our band name is

175
00:10:45.320 --> 00:10:49.399
breathe In on our all our socials, I think it's

176
00:10:50.799 --> 00:10:55.919
at breathe In band, and yeah, we're on all the

177
00:10:55.919 --> 00:11:01.440
streaming platforms, Spotify, Apple Music, all of it. Yeah, man,

178
00:11:01.720 --> 00:11:03.240
just yeah, let us know what you think of the

179
00:11:03.279 --> 00:11:04.000
new sold.

180
00:11:03.960 --> 00:11:06.440
You know, well, I think it's badass. Everybody's got to

181
00:11:06.480 --> 00:11:09.399
check it out. And thanks a lot for giving us

182
00:11:09.399 --> 00:11:11.320
great music and look forward to a lot more.

183
00:11:11.720 --> 00:11:13.600
