Oh man, Hey, it's great to interview and you in person here at Welcome to Rockville. We did a phoner together, but I like this so much better, so much more intimate, isn't it? Absolutely?

1:23 And listen, we even have a breeze here in Florida for you to play like otherwise forget where you're standing. Honestly, I'm sure it's a record breaker today. I always like, how many times have you played in Florida? More than I can count? And is it always like kind of not because of Florida, but the weather torture? Like what's it like to be up there on stage? Giving everything you have when it's one hundred percent humidity and like ninety degrees. Okay, if you asked me this twenty years ago in my other band, when I was playing guitar, I would have said that I hate it. Right, it's a lot more strenuous. But now as a singer, with the humidity and all that, it actually helps me a lot helps your vocal cords. Right. I've usually am a guy that finds refuge in air conditioning and all, but like being a singer now, I stay the funk away from artificial air all that. Like, I'm very conscious of these things that can ruin your voice. So yeah, honestly, playing Florida now as a singer is a godsend. Now I imagine playing as a guitarist, I'm thinking myself, your fingers start getting sweaty, and then it's like hard to like really hit the right notes. You know what used to happen to me when my fingers would get like that and you would do like a slide on a I had big strings, and then they would cut your skin and it would be the worst because then you'd have those cuts for the whole tour. They're never gonna go heel until you go home. So exactly, I don't. I don't envy the guitar players anymore. Let's just say that. So what do you think about playing at the Daytona Speedway?

2:55 How badass? Is that? Very cool? This is our second time. Actually we played two years ago when there was really bad weather that was canceling. Oh yeah, yeah, we were on one of the days that luckily made it through. But unfortunately last time it was a flying day for us. We weren't on tour and when we showed up are all of our technicals, our gear, our computers, everything was broken. So we showed up opening our cases, waiting to play, ready to play the show in ten minutes whatever we were setting up and realizing that none of our stuff were so we had to go up there, punk rock, nice plug in and kind of ham and egg it And it was really fun. Man. It was as nerve wracking and crazy anxiety of a moment as it was. It's something I'll never forget and it actually was fucking awesome. But that's a pro too.

3:38 Once you that mic turns on, you kind of go into this zone, don't you like, It's like before that happens and you're freaking out. Yeah, but the minute that happens real, the minute the mic turns on, like that all goes away and you're just in the zone. Yes, sir, tunnel vision totally. And did you get the drive on the speedway? Yes? Yeah, Actually to go back and forth between stages in our dressing room and our boss and stuff, we have to take the golf carts. So yeah, they rip up and down the track. How badass is that? And did you see the wall? It's like you don't see it on TV, but it's like straight up and down. It's way more steep than you think it is. It's pretty nuts. I was just saying in last interview last year, and I have it with me this year too.

4:24 I brought my skateboard and I was like, I went up to Christia. I'm like, well, I lose my media pass if I start skateboarding in the raceway on those walls. Do it right? Therefore exactly, I told my friends before coming here, I'm like, I might do it this year. I'll probably break my arm, but it'll be worth it. There you go. It's a good story. That's very metal. Okay, right there, So what do you guys got and what are you going to be doing the rest of the year coming out of Rockville. What's exciting? I know you have something very exciting happening tomorrow. Yeah, we actually have a brain new song, well not brand new, it's new to us and it's new to our record. It was on Die About It originally, and we had our friend Chris Daughtry do a guest spot on it and he just he really elevated the track and kind of brought it to a new level. As a guest spot, does you know you kind of get this blend of genres and vibes and yeah, he crushed it. And the song is called Henry for Life and it comes out tomorrow. You know. One of the things I love about Daughtry just seeing him around the post of seeing him on the TV.

5:28 Is he such a rocker, like down to earth rocker, like he would love to do a guest spot probably on every band. Oh, he's a sweetheart and extremely talented. And the fact that he took time out of his busy schedule to hang with us and do the song with us and stuff. I mean, we're forever grateful. Man. I'm humbled by all these opportunities that Bad Wolves gets to take part in and yeah, I'm really excited for everybody here. It came out incredible, honestly, and it's the fact that it's like not even a single and we're just put it out like kind of shows that it's just love it. It's a passion, man. And so like the whole thing of the evolution of Bad Wolves, the vibe, i'mb gang. You tell me if I'm wrong. It's like you've gone to a whole other level now. It's almost like something was holding the band back.

6:16 And I don't mean that specific towards anyone or anything. Sure, it's change in and of itself. Sometimes change and you know, like uprooting and stuff is what it takes to really get to the next level. Do you feel the same? Absolutely? I think we agree. Like what's a simple way that I could put this for people to understand. It's like who wants to eat? Who wants to eat apple jacks? Every day? Like you got to switch it up, you got to try new things, you got to explore new avenues. And because of the eclectic taste in the band, Like I don't think there's a couple bands that each guy in the band, we can like agree on and we enjoy listening to together, but we all kind of come from different places musically, so like when that comes together, something special really happens. And that was something that the didn't have before.

7:00 And now you know, with the new lineup, we have aj from issues. He brings in a new vocal. He has this wild, like hardcore scream that we're using now and we utilize it a lot on our new song Knife, which was just released I think a month or two ago. So there's just a lot of things that we get to experiment and play with and it always keeps it fresh. Yeah, I mean it's so cool because like I think that your music is better than ever, think your live show is better than ever, And it's just I think it's a testament of adding differences to the band, and like you said, when you have influences, I look at it this way nowadays, like there's so many bands that followed this algebraic equation. I call it to make music that I think when you have a band like yours as varied interest, that eliminates that and enables experimentation, which is what makes great, long lasting music. Absolutely, and I think that you know, moving forward, it's probably for or we're gonna get more experimental, just because that's the nature of how we write. Like you, we don't want to just keep putting the same shit out all the time.

8:07 So it's if it's if it's exciting to us, hopefully it's exciting to fans as well well. And the other thing too. If you're an artist and you're growing as an artist, I would think, yeah, why would you want to do the same stuff over and over again? Right like in any industry, no matter what you do, why do you want to do the same thing when you were a rookie or a few years in, like ten years later or what you want to keep growing? Yeah, you're never gonna be happy or fulfilled as an artist because really, the guys in this band are true artists. Like we're pretty like introverted and there's no like really big loudmouths like we We just we love music and that's why we're here. We're not here for the cloud or for the all the other stuff is just fluff.

8:48 Yeah, we love to write, We love to write together, and we never really feel fulfilled unless we're doing what we're What we're getting out of our heads is putting it down. So we're just gonna continue what we do and then hopefully, you know, everybody comes along with us. And I overheard something in the last air of View about you know, you never thought you'd be in a band again. I did not. What was it that made you think, Yep, I'm gonna do it. I think the biggest reason coming into this equation was the fact that I was friends with these guys beforehand, and I had toured with Doc, and we had we had a history already without even being in a band yet. So it just felt felt right. Man. You know, it had to be the right situation at the right time, and it was, well, I take that back, It's never the right time right, Like I was just like life, right, I was just I was just mentioning to someone else that I wish I wish we actually could have like pumped the brakes a little bit and taken the first year to prepare a little bit more, But because of the situation the band was in, we had to just hit the ground running. Yeah, So the first year it was kind of just like me learning how to be a singer in a band. I could sing, and I know that, but there's so much. That's one fiftieth of everything else. It's like the live and you don't have a guitar in your head anymore. So there's these things that I had to kind of like learn on the job playing shows that are way too big that I shouldn't have been playing yet. So the first year year and a half, we almost wish that we could like scrub that

10:18 because it feels like this is the beginning of what the band was supposed to be. Then now I love it, and you know, it's funny because habits. We have habits, Like, so you're playing guitar for years, it is kind of people don't realize it is kind of hard to switch gears because it's just like second nature no matter what you did. Oh dude, it's like if they change a road that you've driven down a million times, like you don't know what to do. Dude. If you're it's like if you're a fucking linebacker for twenty years and then somebody's like, you know what, kid's got an arm, let's put him in at quarterback, right, Like you're probably gonna fucking blow at first, but there you know the game though, right, So how did the singing come about I sang my whole life. Man. I grew up. I went to Catholic school, so like church was a big part of it, and there was singing classes to be able to sing out of the hymnals and stuff. So yeah, it was not religious or anything, but I was brought up in a religious environment, so there was a lot of singing and church stuff. So yeah, see I love hearing that too, because there's this misconception about rock and metal, and you know, it almost makes me laugh at times. It always made me laugh as a teenager, Like I would hang out with Slayer outside the club as a teenager and we'd all laugh about that. People thought they were actually devil worship right right right, you know, and it's so the opposite actually, and this community is all love, man, yeah, one hundred percent. And you know, we're a big family. But a lot

Sure, sure, if that's the thing you have to put out there, I understand, right, we don't even really have like a thing that right we put out there is just that's why you're a true artist, because when you're a true artist, you don't need a thing.
