1
00:00:04.360 --> 00:00:13.759
Hey you lunto's sure, wow, crazy you.

2
00:00:19.679 --> 00:00:22.039
This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man

3
00:00:22.120 --> 00:00:24.239
W four c Y Radio, and I'm here.

4
00:00:24.039 --> 00:00:27.199
With Matt and Lance and we're in a band called

5
00:00:27.199 --> 00:00:29.760
from ash Snow. You may have heard of maybe I

6
00:00:29.800 --> 00:00:31.160
think I heard of you?

7
00:00:31.199 --> 00:00:34.280
Okay, cool, I'm not sure. Good maybe. As the interview

8
00:00:34.399 --> 00:00:36.280
goes on, I'll figure.

9
00:00:35.479 --> 00:00:37.560
We're relatively new, just came on the scene.

10
00:00:37.840 --> 00:00:39.039
My mom says we're pretty good.

11
00:00:39.560 --> 00:00:41.880
Oh well, then that that's a done deal. You must

12
00:00:41.920 --> 00:00:44.520
be good. I'll tell you what. Who else says you're

13
00:00:44.520 --> 00:00:47.640
pretty good? Your newest song is pretty fucking badass.

14
00:00:47.640 --> 00:00:48.560
Thank you man, thank you.

15
00:00:48.640 --> 00:00:48.840
Yep.

16
00:00:48.880 --> 00:00:50.640
We were hoping it would get the reception that it did.

17
00:00:50.880 --> 00:00:54.399
I was like, wow, that's a really good song. And

18
00:00:54.520 --> 00:00:57.399
you guys are good anyway. But I mean, like sometimes

19
00:00:57.439 --> 00:01:00.320
when you're into a band and they come out with

20
00:01:00.359 --> 00:01:02.719
new music, you're like, is it gonna be as good

21
00:01:02.759 --> 00:01:06.480
as before? Or is it gonna be not? I think

22
00:01:06.519 --> 00:01:08.840
this is like your best yet so far.

23
00:01:09.359 --> 00:01:11.120
I'll take it. How do you feel about that? You like that?

24
00:01:11.280 --> 00:01:12.480
By agree?

25
00:01:12.799 --> 00:01:15.480
So does his mother. His mother also agrees.

26
00:01:15.680 --> 00:01:18.799
There we got the selo approval from mom.

27
00:01:18.879 --> 00:01:21.319
That's all you need in this life, dude, I know, right.

28
00:01:21.640 --> 00:01:24.159
See, I come from a time where it's like I

29
00:01:24.200 --> 00:01:27.480
was playing guitar and of course my dad wasn't into

30
00:01:27.519 --> 00:01:29.680
metal and he's like, you better give that up because

31
00:01:29.719 --> 00:01:33.040
you suck. I'm like, that's nice of him. I'm like, yeah,

32
00:01:33.200 --> 00:01:34.599
I don't think you understand.

33
00:01:35.480 --> 00:01:39.400
So you're a negative reinforcement guy, me too, right, Yeah, yeah,

34
00:01:39.400 --> 00:01:40.280
go ahead fucking tell me.

35
00:01:40.319 --> 00:01:40.719
I can't.

36
00:01:40.799 --> 00:01:42.680
I know, and I'm gonna tell you. I but I

37
00:01:42.719 --> 00:01:44.319
did suck, So oh well.

38
00:01:44.439 --> 00:01:46.959
Sorry, do some cool shit.

39
00:01:47.000 --> 00:01:49.120
If he didn't say I sucked, I wouldn't be doing

40
00:01:49.120 --> 00:01:51.760
this right now. I played drums, I played guitar, I

41
00:01:51.799 --> 00:01:54.439
sang flashballs, sucked at all three, So now I do this.

42
00:01:54.519 --> 00:01:55.640
I'm pretty fucking good at this.

43
00:01:55.719 --> 00:01:57.840
All right, So that's what That's all you needed?

44
00:01:57.879 --> 00:02:02.439
We need all to get here. How about you, guys?

45
00:02:02.480 --> 00:02:06.439
Did you go through different things before you got to

46
00:02:06.519 --> 00:02:10.360
what you really loved doing? Yeah?

47
00:02:10.560 --> 00:02:14.080
So, my dad was a super popular sound guy. So

48
00:02:14.120 --> 00:02:16.120
he did sound for like Motley Crue and Elton John,

49
00:02:16.199 --> 00:02:19.080
like big timers. Nice always tried to get me into

50
00:02:19.120 --> 00:02:22.520
his avenue of things, whether it be like drums, keyboard,

51
00:02:22.680 --> 00:02:25.560
or even pro sound after I graduated high school.

52
00:02:26.159 --> 00:02:27.319
I hated all of it.

53
00:02:27.319 --> 00:02:29.280
It wasn't for me. And I randomly picked up a

54
00:02:29.280 --> 00:02:32.599
guitar from my buddy in high school, like just making

55
00:02:32.639 --> 00:02:33.319
plinky noises.

56
00:02:33.360 --> 00:02:35.039
I'm like, it is the coolest thing ever. This is

57
00:02:35.080 --> 00:02:37.840
what I gotta do, so nice. I love hearing that.

58
00:02:37.960 --> 00:02:39.439
Now he hates it? Yeah, I hate it?

59
00:02:42.120 --> 00:02:43.879
How you like Louder than Life though?

60
00:02:44.479 --> 00:02:47.439
Okay, so last year this has been a weird festival

61
00:02:47.439 --> 00:02:48.960
for us, right, So we've been booked to play this

62
00:02:49.000 --> 00:02:52.240
festival how many times now? I think it's four times now,

63
00:02:52.240 --> 00:02:55.479
and two of four have been rained out.

64
00:02:55.520 --> 00:02:57.120
And so we've only ever played it once.

65
00:02:57.280 --> 00:02:59.360
I hate to tell you this because I think I

66
00:02:59.400 --> 00:03:01.319
was supposed to talk to you at last year's Louder

67
00:03:01.319 --> 00:03:05.639
than Life. But it was also today that Slayer played

68
00:03:05.800 --> 00:03:09.360
ye let slay Er not Rain and Blood on Louder

69
00:03:09.400 --> 00:03:10.520
than Life this year too.

70
00:03:10.840 --> 00:03:11.919
I mean, I don't want to jinx it, but it

71
00:03:11.960 --> 00:03:13.680
looks like a beautiful day and I haven't heard of

72
00:03:13.719 --> 00:03:15.479
any hurricanes coming up the coast, so I think we

73
00:03:15.520 --> 00:03:16.479
should be all right.

74
00:03:16.759 --> 00:03:19.000
You never know, because I want to show you a

75
00:03:19.039 --> 00:03:21.919
picture of last week at this venue. Okay, you ready

76
00:03:22.280 --> 00:03:24.800
this is. This was in the middle of the night though,

77
00:03:24.879 --> 00:03:29.479
so it really didn't ruin the festival, so to speak.

78
00:03:30.039 --> 00:03:33.039
But it was pretty wild. If I can, I'll find

79
00:03:33.080 --> 00:03:35.360
it sometime during the interview. But yeah, so what else

80
00:03:35.400 --> 00:03:39.360
you got going on that's new? When? When? What's going

81
00:03:39.400 --> 00:03:40.800
on after Louder than Life?

82
00:03:40.840 --> 00:03:41.560
I mean, we're on tour.

83
00:03:41.680 --> 00:03:43.360
We just started a tour, so Louder in Life is

84
00:03:43.400 --> 00:03:44.879
the beginning of the New Disease.

85
00:03:44.960 --> 00:03:47.400
Yeah, you're gonna be in my neck of the woods

86
00:03:47.400 --> 00:03:48.000
in November.

87
00:03:48.039 --> 00:03:48.400
Where's that?

88
00:03:48.879 --> 00:03:51.919
Well, I live in West Palm. Here West Palm, and

89
00:03:51.960 --> 00:03:55.919
you're gonna Lauderdale. So I'm going I'm going to hit

90
00:03:56.000 --> 00:03:56.719
up your publicist.

91
00:03:57.080 --> 00:03:57.439
Let's do it.

92
00:03:57.520 --> 00:03:59.919
Hey, Yeah, Yeah, So we're doing the New Disease sour,

93
00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:01.840
which is off the new single, which is weird because

94
00:04:01.840 --> 00:04:03.960
we announced the tour before we released the single. But

95
00:04:04.599 --> 00:04:06.560
that's a whole back end cluster fuck that we don't

96
00:04:06.599 --> 00:04:08.319
need to get into right now. But yeah, So the

97
00:04:08.360 --> 00:04:11.759
tour starts Saturday, so we're here today and a Saturday,

98
00:04:11.759 --> 00:04:13.479
it starts in Saint Louis and then it goes the

99
00:04:13.479 --> 00:04:16.519
whole way until four. Lotderdale is actually the last show,

100
00:04:16.839 --> 00:04:19.879
and then after for Lauderdale, we play Warped Tour in Orlando.

101
00:04:20.399 --> 00:04:22.279
Oh I'm waiting to hear on that, but I should

102
00:04:22.319 --> 00:04:23.879
do that because I did warp Tour.

103
00:04:24.399 --> 00:04:26.480
It's close too, so it's a lot easier for you

104
00:04:26.519 --> 00:04:27.360
to get to It was.

105
00:04:27.319 --> 00:04:29.399
Mike, when I was in West Palm Beach like back

106
00:04:29.399 --> 00:04:30.959
in the day. Oh yeah, I played there, but it

107
00:04:31.000 --> 00:04:34.360
also sucked because why do you put West Palm Beach

108
00:04:34.480 --> 00:04:37.839
in August to play like that's when always was. I'm like,

109
00:04:37.879 --> 00:04:39.480
that's a hot that's fricking monk.

110
00:04:39.639 --> 00:04:43.360
That's the entire This the entire tour, dude, like Lance,

111
00:04:43.439 --> 00:04:46.399
And I'm pretty sure we actually maybe post mortem right now,

112
00:04:46.439 --> 00:04:49.360
like we are not actually alive currently because Warped Tour took.

113
00:04:49.279 --> 00:04:50.360
Us out in twenty sixteen.

114
00:04:52.319 --> 00:04:55.319
That's great, Like we're we're actually just ghosts of it

115
00:04:55.360 --> 00:04:56.839
was that hard, I guess is what I'm trying to

116
00:04:56.879 --> 00:04:58.519
say is that tour was fucking brutal.

117
00:04:58.600 --> 00:04:58.920
Dude.

118
00:04:59.079 --> 00:05:01.759
I bet I bet hey did you see the Ferris

119
00:05:01.839 --> 00:05:06.480
Wheel that's the fairest wheel last week? Like that?

120
00:05:07.279 --> 00:05:07.439
Man?

121
00:05:07.759 --> 00:05:10.360
I know, right experience how cool would that be? I'd

122
00:05:10.360 --> 00:05:11.240
be like up there.

123
00:05:11.079 --> 00:05:14.399
Like this, man, imagine that shot. I could become the

124
00:05:14.439 --> 00:05:16.800
flash photoshop. Nowadays, we can just make it look like

125
00:05:16.800 --> 00:05:17.279
that happens.

126
00:05:17.319 --> 00:05:20.079
I know, I think he just gave me a great idea.

127
00:05:20.120 --> 00:05:22.079
Should definitely shop yourself on that Ferres wheel.

128
00:05:22.120 --> 00:05:25.240
I know that would be cool. And then I'll have

129
00:05:25.319 --> 00:05:29.079
you guys playing like below it right exactly. You're on

130
00:05:29.160 --> 00:05:31.959
the other side of the lightning. You're like playing like

131
00:05:32.079 --> 00:05:32.959
right over here.

132
00:05:32.879 --> 00:05:36.160
The Metallica is riding it. I love that, you see.

133
00:05:36.240 --> 00:05:38.480
I mean, speaking of Metallica, have you ever seen my

134
00:05:38.560 --> 00:05:40.680
battle vests? That's mine from the eighties.

135
00:05:40.720 --> 00:05:41.240
Oh that's sick.

136
00:05:42.120 --> 00:05:45.519
Can you tell it's been through some wars. A couple

137
00:05:45.519 --> 00:05:48.120
of marsh bits, A little bit, yeah, a little stage,

138
00:05:49.000 --> 00:05:51.839
a couple of crowds, first flood from stage diving and

139
00:05:52.279 --> 00:05:55.600
the folk swan. I climbed up the Marshall stack and

140
00:05:55.639 --> 00:05:58.279
then crowd moved. I was like in mid air. I'm like,

141
00:05:58.279 --> 00:05:59.439
oh fuck, I.

142
00:05:59.399 --> 00:06:00.480
Think it's been th man.

143
00:06:00.680 --> 00:06:01.920
It has hope.

144
00:06:01.959 --> 00:06:04.040
I don't see this on an episode of pund Stars someday.

145
00:06:04.439 --> 00:06:08.360
No, no, never. And it's funny because it's been in

146
00:06:08.399 --> 00:06:12.480
the closet, not like that, but it's been in the

147
00:06:12.519 --> 00:06:14.639
closet for many years. And I decide, you know what,

148
00:06:14.839 --> 00:06:18.279
why don't I bring this and use this during interviews.

149
00:06:17.839 --> 00:06:19.240
Doing a Slayer interviews today?

150
00:06:19.600 --> 00:06:21.480
I am not They don't do it anymore. But I

151
00:06:21.519 --> 00:06:23.399
was at their first show ever. They didn't even have

152
00:06:23.480 --> 00:06:25.720
a patch, so I just did it myself. Oh yeah,

153
00:06:26.160 --> 00:06:29.079
and I lived in LA so people thought I was

154
00:06:29.120 --> 00:06:31.600
a gang banger and that was my gang name.

155
00:06:32.120 --> 00:06:34.319
Oh really, that's your motorcycle gang name?

156
00:06:34.560 --> 00:06:38.000
Yeah, exactly exactly. And then like Winston from Parkway Drive

157
00:06:38.199 --> 00:06:40.959
was like, when did Metallica have a logo like that?

158
00:06:41.360 --> 00:06:43.720
Can you guess what that's from?

159
00:06:44.120 --> 00:06:45.800
I actually don't know, like what era?

160
00:06:46.720 --> 00:06:49.519
This is from the eighties? Like this is from the

161
00:06:49.600 --> 00:06:51.800
first Metallica show pretty much.

162
00:06:51.959 --> 00:06:53.759
So it's a kill them All era or what?

163
00:06:55.040 --> 00:06:57.720
Yeah, I don't know if I should give you that hint.

164
00:06:58.160 --> 00:06:58.519
I don't know.

165
00:06:59.480 --> 00:07:00.839
That's as far as I'm gonna get.

166
00:07:01.079 --> 00:07:02.360
How about you, do you have a guess?

167
00:07:02.480 --> 00:07:04.360
Nope? He did exactly what I would have.

168
00:07:04.319 --> 00:07:07.399
Done, jumping the fire. It is kill them all?

169
00:07:07.800 --> 00:07:10.319
Okay, I don't think I've ever seen that either, to

170
00:07:10.360 --> 00:07:12.319
be honest with you, right, where'd you get it?

171
00:07:12.360 --> 00:07:12.399
Was?

172
00:07:12.439 --> 00:07:13.920
Like for a T shirt? He cut it off over.

173
00:07:14.079 --> 00:07:15.319
No, that's the real patch.

174
00:07:15.360 --> 00:07:16.160
Oh is this a patch?

175
00:07:16.279 --> 00:07:19.040
That's a real patch. That's a real patch, that's an

176
00:07:19.079 --> 00:07:22.399
actual patch. I did that part like I was like

177
00:07:23.000 --> 00:07:25.720
the whites boring me. Oh he colored it in, right,

178
00:07:25.839 --> 00:07:27.439
I colored it, and I think I had to do

179
00:07:27.560 --> 00:07:31.639
when I put it into my electric fireplace with my

180
00:07:31.759 --> 00:07:34.360
bro when we were tripping on acid or something.

181
00:07:35.120 --> 00:07:38.519
Hell yeah, listen, man, electric fireplace, acid and let's color

182
00:07:38.560 --> 00:07:39.120
in metallica.

183
00:07:39.240 --> 00:07:42.319
Yeah exactly, because and then what happened is this became

184
00:07:42.360 --> 00:07:44.720
the real devil coming out of fire. So it was

185
00:07:45.000 --> 00:07:46.839
truly jump out of jump into.

186
00:07:46.759 --> 00:07:50.279
Fire, sick, you know, Like I live for history like that,

187
00:07:50.399 --> 00:07:53.160
like in memories and things like that. Like sometimes life

188
00:07:53.199 --> 00:07:55.040
gets a little bit more and more difficult as you

189
00:07:55.079 --> 00:07:56.720
move forward, so you kind of look back at those

190
00:07:56.800 --> 00:07:59.040
those good things, man, and you're able to kind of

191
00:07:59.040 --> 00:08:01.560
reminisce and find that old smile.

192
00:08:01.639 --> 00:08:02.079
Sometimes.

193
00:08:03.759 --> 00:08:05.360
I look at this thing. I smile all the time

194
00:08:05.399 --> 00:08:08.680
because I'm like, it's funny. At Helles, I was interviewing

195
00:08:08.720 --> 00:08:11.879
Geene Hoagland and Dark Angel just came out with a

196
00:08:11.920 --> 00:08:15.040
new album, Like, hey, do you recognize that logo and

197
00:08:15.079 --> 00:08:17.560
it's Dark Angel on there.

198
00:08:17.800 --> 00:08:20.319
So anyways, we gotta start a new one.

199
00:08:20.360 --> 00:08:21.639
Now there it is.

200
00:08:21.759 --> 00:08:23.680
There you go. I better see you, crowds are here.

201
00:08:24.000 --> 00:08:26.399
Wait a minute, I need I need to bring a

202
00:08:26.480 --> 00:08:28.920
sharpie and you could draw your band name on there.

203
00:08:29.000 --> 00:08:31.279
What I'm saying, somebody did that at the last festival.

204
00:08:31.360 --> 00:08:31.920
That's what I'm saying.

205
00:08:31.959 --> 00:08:35.039
But but, but it's not real unless you're jumping off

206
00:08:35.039 --> 00:08:35.600
our stage.

207
00:08:35.720 --> 00:08:39.159
Okay. I don't know if Daniel like that, he'd be

208
00:08:39.159 --> 00:08:41.200
all right, you get over it. I mean I could

209
00:08:41.200 --> 00:08:44.480
be like Dillinger escape Plan and hot climb up and

210
00:08:44.639 --> 00:08:47.000
grab one of your guitars, climb up and jump down.

211
00:08:47.120 --> 00:08:49.440
You could, But I got it.

212
00:08:49.519 --> 00:08:52.399
I got a suspicion that might not work out well

213
00:08:52.440 --> 00:08:53.320
for any of us.

214
00:08:53.919 --> 00:08:57.600
No, it wouldn't. It wouldn't. So what else do you

215
00:08:57.600 --> 00:08:59.480
guys want to tell the listeners that they need to

216
00:08:59.480 --> 00:09:01.799
know it's going on? And why should they should definitely

217
00:09:01.840 --> 00:09:04.080
catch you on this tour because that's a badass tour.

218
00:09:04.120 --> 00:09:06.799
Yeah, tour sick, It's Magnolia, It's us Magnolia Park until

219
00:09:06.840 --> 00:09:08.279
I Wake and not enough space. But we got a

220
00:09:08.279 --> 00:09:10.960
couple of the young guns out there supporting it, and

221
00:09:11.159 --> 00:09:13.080
up and coming bands are doing great things right now.

222
00:09:13.240 --> 00:09:15.480
Obviously new diseases. Our new single that's doing.

223
00:09:15.320 --> 00:09:18.360
Phenomenal out the Gate Crushed, and we're gonna be playing it,

224
00:09:18.399 --> 00:09:19.120
of course on this tour.

225
00:09:19.159 --> 00:09:20.360
So if you want to see it live, comes here.

226
00:09:21.720 --> 00:09:23.080
We got some deep cuts, right.

227
00:09:23.000 --> 00:09:24.559
Yeah, we're playing We're playing a song. I'm not gonna

228
00:09:24.559 --> 00:09:25.840
tell you what it is. We're playing a song we've

229
00:09:25.879 --> 00:09:27.759
never played live before on any oh.

230
00:09:28.320 --> 00:09:30.159
So they have to go yeah, don't tell them, they

231
00:09:30.200 --> 00:09:31.039
have to go to Yes.

232
00:09:31.360 --> 00:09:33.080
And there's a couple that we haven't played in years.

233
00:09:33.120 --> 00:09:34.759
I think that we're breaking out for the store as well.

234
00:09:34.759 --> 00:09:37.080
How hard is that? Like it's one thing you're playing

235
00:09:37.080 --> 00:09:39.039
it every night, but then when you put it like

236
00:09:39.080 --> 00:09:42.240
in the closet and then bring it out years later,

237
00:09:42.440 --> 00:09:45.159
like are you a little rusty up? Yeah?

238
00:09:45.240 --> 00:09:48.159
Yeah, man, Well because I don't actively listen to them, right,

239
00:09:48.240 --> 00:09:49.960
you know what I mean? Like, I'm not like actively

240
00:09:50.000 --> 00:09:52.679
putting those songs or any of our songs for that matter,

241
00:09:52.759 --> 00:09:53.360
on a playlist.

242
00:09:53.399 --> 00:09:55.919
I hear our stuff enough, right, you know what I mean?

243
00:09:56.039 --> 00:09:58.799
So, so yeah, we started practicing some things. I'm like,

244
00:09:58.840 --> 00:10:01.519
oh shit, I don't remember any I would actually went

245
00:10:01.559 --> 00:10:02.519
and google the lyrics.

246
00:10:03.559 --> 00:10:04.840
That's that's funny though.

247
00:10:04.960 --> 00:10:07.039
Yeah, that is and it kind of comes flowing back

248
00:10:07.039 --> 00:10:08.679
to you then, right, you know what I mean.

249
00:10:08.720 --> 00:10:10.559
Like, but thank god for Google though.

250
00:10:10.799 --> 00:10:13.840
Yeah, yeah, I had to start digging through some notes.

251
00:10:13.799 --> 00:10:16.080
I know, right, got to dig out those paper notes

252
00:10:16.080 --> 00:10:16.759
from way banks.

253
00:10:16.879 --> 00:10:19.279
Some of them were actually written on paper, I believe. Yeah,

254
00:10:19.279 --> 00:10:20.799
I mean, I'll do it any more. It's all notes

255
00:10:20.799 --> 00:10:21.480
in the phone now.

256
00:10:21.559 --> 00:10:24.080
But you don't lose your phone like Kirk Hamet where

257
00:10:24.080 --> 00:10:25.799
he lost like I think it was like one hundred

258
00:10:25.840 --> 00:10:28.559
and forty riffs on his phone. Yeah, that's don't do that.

259
00:10:28.559 --> 00:10:30.559
That's not fun. You got back that shit up in

260
00:10:30.559 --> 00:10:31.159
the cloud. Dog.

261
00:10:33.679 --> 00:10:36.879
Well you guys freaking rock. Glad to see you. Hear

262
00:10:36.919 --> 00:10:39.480
at Louder than Life and that new song it kicks ass.

263
00:10:39.519 --> 00:10:41.720
So nobody anybody that hasn't heard yet, they need to

264
00:10:41.759 --> 00:10:43.679
go hear it, and they need to go hear it live.

265
00:10:43.919 --> 00:10:44.759
Appreciate that, man.

266
00:10:44.799 --> 00:10:47.679
Thank you anytime, you guys rock. Thanks for being here

267
00:10:47.720 --> 00:10:49.480
and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man.

268
00:10:49.480 --> 00:10:51.720
Thanks for having us hell y man. Thank you for

269
00:10:52.000 --> 00:10:57.279
listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man on w for

270
00:10:57.639 --> 00:11:05.440
CUI Radio.
