Yeah, I mean he's the America because we've been out here for a little while it's really hard not to be like fall into it that we love doing it, it's so much fun. But I want to hear the American accent, so I want to hear the British from you. We're going to exchange. So I was actually married to a British girl. I got a funny story for you too, Okay. So a lot of British people, mostly women, come over to the US, especially Florida. When they come to Florida, and of course we don't know the different places in the UK, so they they are able to play like their royals. My ex wife, she acted like she was

2:37 a royal, like hoity toity and I'm English and I'm better than you because you're just an American at this whole attitude like that. It happens a lot of time like that. They'll cut and people come over and then it's like they think that we're a lower class, which you know, in some classes maybe we are. And so I found out wasn't until after we were married where she was really from in the UK, Newcastle. I get the same reaction every time I do that. Whatever is cool though, it's like it's up north. And then they got energy. We like it rough and ready and up north as you know, right, there's there's guts, you know, we like them kind of areas we'll see from the south. See the accent Okay, See that's the funny thing. Everybody always says, like, well, how do you even understand how what you're saying? She was very good at speaking the accent of the royals, like she she spoke very proper, you know, and very like royal the Queen's English. Okay, she must have been training for years elocution. Right, So how do you feel over here compared that home when you're performing? Like how do you find the crowds here? We really love performing in America just because I think there's like

4:14 just a i don't know, just a hunger for like ballsy loud music, and they're not afraid to take it on. It's not like whoa Like they're not afraid of like women playing like heavy rock music, which is really fucking good because sometimes you know, people want that kind of dainty little plight Indie vibe Bush's beautiful, but that ain't us. So when we come here, when we come here, we just feel really like accepted musically. So and every time we come back. We just feel like it feels like another home, Like we enjoy it more and more each time. Nice she recording our next album in America. Nice. So yeah, see, I love what you're saying because if you go back years ago, you wouldn't have said that, you know, because you know, I'll say it like an American like chicks don't belong in metal, And that's such bullshit because to me, some of the most badass people metal are the women like way more. And I think it has to do with the passion, the emotion because this type of music, that is a big component of it. And I think that's where you have us males beat. We can't disagree. 5:32 But that's like really good to hear that you love being And it was kind of ironic to me something you said too, because when I was a teenager, that's when the London punk scene was huge, and I thought the exact opposite. I'm like, I want to go to England where there's real music and where they're really like badass and you know, they're willing to put it all out there and take chances and all that stuff proposed to the you know, doing what the record labels tell you to do over here in America, you know, and that's how I felt as a teenager. So did you give England credit? Like the punk scene was popping, Like yeah, it was like late sixties seventies, I guess, you know, you you know, that's where it fucking originates from that punk sound. You know, of course it's incredible, But we feel like that's still really much like it is definitely thriving still on like the underground scene, but that's not like mainstream like idols done really well, crossing over and like, but you don't really, I don't know, it gets nurtured more on the underground scene. Now, well that used to be what everyone would go to, you know. So you know, there's pros and cons everywhere, you know, Like I said a few years ago, I think there's like universally, there's definitely more like women, non binary people just coming through and music in general. And it's great for us. When we first started, we were the only women on

We turn up and be like, oh shit, right, what is Yeah, yeah, there's the double whammy right there, right, But it's nice to see how the genre is like evolving and opening up and it is really cool, because like, who really gives a crap non binary, male, female whatever. As long as you are a good artist, that's all that should matter. That's what should say, and that is you guys. You guys are badass. You know. I am glad you're here at Welcome to Rockville, And it is this. Now here's the fune thing.

7:46 Like we've always looked at like the European festivals as the godfathers of all festivals. But the common theme I've been getting from a lot of the UK artists that I've interviewed here at Rockville is that they can't believe how big this venue is and how like monstrous it is, and like the like they're making like this is the Granddaddy of festivals. And it's like kudos to Danny Wimmer, because that's why he did. He he wanted to take us festivals and make them more like the European UK festivals, whereas most of the other festivals were always like going to the county Fair. Yeah, it's very grand.

8:26 When you come in, you're on NASCAR, which is right arrive, it's like, oh my god, it's stunning as well, isn't it. It really makes you think fuck, Like we're playing a festival on a racetrack right now, I know, right, go, So what's weird? Is okay? Like Download, you're playing on a racetrack, but you're not on the racetrack. Yeah, you know. So I never get the vibe when I'm at Download that I'm at a racetrack here. I mean, you can't avoid it, and we love Download, but it's just it's very different. It feels like more like a festival in terms of like you've got the grass, lot of grass, and you know, you've got stages. Europe, the festivals are that they are banging as well. Nuts Like I don't know how many like different European festivals you've been to, but I've covered Hellfest. Healfest is so sick. It's so sick, sick, Like I can never stop talking about that festival. I mean it just blew my mind and it's like a city. And then when I was there, okay, it was the one and the first one I went to was right after COVID where it had the two weekends and like three hundred and sixty bands, and I was like, oh my god, like I was in heaven. And then the first weekend it was one hundred and four degrees like the press tend they have there, which is really cool, but it's all black. I was doing the interviews outside by that little pool because it was way too high in there.

10:01 And then at night when they have all those flames going, I'm like, man, I if there is a hell, this is what it looks like. Man, it lives up to it. You would read like Boomtown as well. Yeah, it's like all that creative kind of set design and it's like you'd really like it. It was cool hell Fest too, like there were these hidden stages, like when you went back where the merch area was and they had like a stage on top of the building that was like really small that bands were playing. And then I remember grocery cart races in the campground at the end of the night at Helfest. And but here's what's really cool is except for the main stages, every other stage is dedicated to a very specific genre of music. Like if you're into death metal, you can stay at that one stage the whole day, yeah, you know, and then you got the black metal right next to it, and then you got the hardcore one over there and stuff like that. But I do love the UK festivals. I love download great download syliconic. I also do Bloodstock.

11:05 I love Bloodstock too, Bloodstock, Oh you need to do Bloodstock. Yeah, we heard a good things about it, to be fair. Yeah, it's a festival we do. I can love it. It's so great because obviously we played this last year, so I feel really like just honored to come back again and play it just you know twice, yeah, because usually skip a year, but we was like, we love it so much, We've got to come back one more time, one more time, hopefully a lot more times. Right, one more times. I love your hat too, Oh, thank you? As cool as hell? First of all, the spikes are called as hell, but they are kind of dangerous for you know, but the rest of it, like did you make that hat?

11:46 It looks homemade, So it is homemade, but it's by someone called dirt bag okay, and they are got the dresses on it. We've got their dresses on those are badass too, super Like it's like so I know that from the UK. Yeah, those dresses look perfect for Florida too, write because they're not too hot. Yeah, because we were thinking I was gonna wear a shirt underneath mine, and I was actually I really shouldn't. Yeah, that were about a bad idea, especially in a little while, because it's not even hot yet here. We have two seasons, hot and hotter. Yeah we are. Now we're at hot because it's actually not that hot to me here because it's Florida, and Florida is usually a lot harder, Like usually by now in this interview, i'd be dripping sweat all the way down. Is actually lovely and breezy. On stage today though we had full sun directness that's brutal. It was burning. It was like vampire and the Light. I always have such awe for artists that perform in that because like, you still have to give it your all and you're about to die.

13:00 But what's really great about America is that you have air con, which has its pros and cons. Yeah, because the air con is always like being in a fridge. But I want to tell you, like this, in your dressing room there's air con, where sometimes there's no aircorn in like Europe. But well, I don't this is the only thing about America. You got for dinner and you have to bring a winter jacket. It's like, how do you dress for dinner. It's not all of America. It is Florida specifically. Yeah, we've been everywhere. We've been looking the monit to Atlanta. It's praising. Yeah, I hate it. I hate it because like you walk it. If I want, like I used to live in Winter State, if I want to live in Winter, I'll go to Winter. But like in Florida, I shouldn't have to walk into a restaurant and wear my ski jackets. Crazy. I'm glad you think so. Tick.

13:46 We thought we were just like's not used to the air con. But that's interesting. No, it's it's like it's either here's Florida. It's either super hot or super cold. There is no in between between. We saw a snake yesterday, an eagle. That's why I was going to see if you did you wrestle the alligator in the distance like run out of the like swamp thing and it goes so fast. Yeah. See you didn't know that, did you. Like people don't know that because most of the time they just sit there and bake in the sun. Like I've walked by an aligair like right next to me and it doesn't even move. The suckers are fast.

14:28 You think you can run from them, you cannot. They are super fast. Here what else have you seen that you really dig? Here's a lot of just beautiful a terrain and like palms and wild turkey, wild, there's wild boar too. No, it's just gorgeous. Obviously the sun shining and the trees and the leaves are green. We've obviously come from the UK, so we left like the beginning of spring, so it still was looking bare in the UK, and then we ended up in Vermont, which was bear as well, gorgeous because obviously the woodlands, but it was bear. So we've gone into like full like not foliage, sorry, like green. Now see, way do you go like in the fall to some of the other states that are further north that have trees that change color, like you'll see every color in the rainbow. Yeah, Vermont's totally like that. Yeah.

15:30 Last year we drove through and it was stunning. We were like, fuck, it was like yellow, but vivid yellow, vivid orange, vivid red. We was like and we also saw the redwood trees. Oh those are those are awesome? Right? They like seem that like they go forever, like you can climb up the tree to Heaven very mystical so wide as well. Yeah, fit a car through it like a car did go through it. They do have like wind of redwoods. They like cut a hole where you can drive through it. We didn't get to do that, but we know what.
