1:04 One is they usually do it better than I do. Two is if it's a hard one to pronounce, I don't mess it up. Right. Oh, this one's not too hard, I hope. No. I think I could get that one that. I think I could pronounce it. But you never know nowadays, right, there's so many bands that you think it's said one way, but it said another way. Yeah, so let them do it well. We try to keep it simple in this band. So, but I can't tell you what CNT stands for. That is an inner secret. Oh okay, I like that too. That's kind of like you know with Black Sabbath, they had that song nib and nobody for the longest time even knew what it meant. Yeah, I mean we do now, but I know keep the mystery, Keep the mystery. It's kind of like, do you remember the old punk fan MDC, NBC MDC millions of Dead Cops. Yes, but then they went there were like so many different names for see. I thought that was funny. It's like every year it was a different name. Yeah. Yeah, So how's it feel to be here at riot Fest? Good? It's been hectic. We got here, you know. We came right from the airport yesterday and saw the last hour of the Food Fighters. I couldn't see anything else, unfortunately, but at least you caught that though. Yeah, I saw that. That was cool.

2:24 I think some other a couple of us got here early enough to see some other bands, but I personally haven't seen much yet. And I just pulled up right now to this. So and who who would you like to set time aside to see? We're gonna We're gonna see i CP, that's the analyst. Well, I mean we're actually going to play another show tonight with to leave? Is that the after show? Yeah? Who's that with that? You're playing tonight? I forget closives? Okay, yeah, so that that would be fun because those club shows, the after shows, those are pre go fun. Yeah, you've done them for this festival, but I've never played here before. Oh really at Rio we played Chicago. I figured some but yeah, then tomorrow we're trying to see the Cure, of course can't. I can't remember else. We're excited to see now Death Cab.

3:17 We want to see Turnstile consue him. They were pretty good, Yeah, the usual suspect. I'm looking forward to mister Bungle. Mister Bungle. Yeah, so I'm going to Pennywise. Like I didn't go out there all day, so I'm going Paywise and mister Bungle. So when you text me, that's why I was like, okay, so how much later? Yeah, Oh, I don't mind. I'll stay just namare. But we weren't too late, I don't think so I know how that goes anyway, so it doesn't bother me. I stay in here till I'm done. Besides, I got it right here. Like some festivals, it sucks you can't hear anything, but if I miss sets, I want was sitting that's right here.

3:59 I totally so describe to our listeners. For those of you who and those of us that have not heard you, how would you as an artist describe your music. You know, we take a lot of influence from the major Shoe Gays bands probably, Like I mean, we don't listen to much Shoe Gays, but we listen to My Bloody Valentine all the time. You know, we listened to a lot of stuff. I don't know how it comes across on the records, but basically nineties guitarist guitarists and more guitarists. And see I love that because we're missing that nowadays. Yeah, like you have these bands and it's like where's the guitars? Yeah, it's so it's like an algebraic equation that they have this formula instead of the old school where it was just this creativity whatever came like into you came out in out of the guitar. Yeah. Yeah. This new record we got coming out, I think has a little bit more of like a teenage fan club kind of if you're familiar with them at all. A lot of some more like harmonies and stuff like that. But yeah, Melisten and lots of stuff. Very cool.

5:10 And so what was that moment in time in life where you knew this is what you wanted to do? Oh I still don't Oh there you go. I questioned every day all the pain, But I mean, I don't know. I think no matter what happens, I'll always write songs and get on the four track and record. So I don't know if there was a specific moment. It's probably a lot, but I could remember, like my I had a piano teacher in high school who actually gave me a four track, like a four track tape record, and that that kind of stuck with me, and when I started plugging around with that, that was a big turning point. I think hearing like my voice and being able to multi track stuff was kind of a revolution in the word way. And I love what you said before because I think a lot of people don't wise like artists.

6:02 It's you do go through that battle every day because it's a lot of work and there's a lot you gotta deal with. They just look at hey, they're playing music. That must be fun. Yeah, and it is fun, but there's a lot more that goes along with it. It's a lot of work, definitely. I think even like within the band, we we kind of fight with ourselves about like, oh, we're this is so cool, We're playing this festival. But it's like dude, A lot of working into getting here and get into this point. And I'm not I'm not trying to get anyone into pitting me or anything. It is it's really, uh, it's very We're very lucky, and I think we have a lot of opportunities that you know, ninety nine point nine percent of the bands don't get, and we're thankful and grateful for that all the time. But yeah, it's a lot of work. And I focus on that too, because like I want bands to be supported, and like they don't realize how much has to go into being a band, writing music, producing it, playing live, you know, getting your three was it three pennies for per million plays or whatever, you know, So yeah, it's hard. Yeah, I mean it's like, what what would you do instead, you know, if we weren't doing this. So let's see, that's the attitude right there that says you're an artist because listen, you're not doing it for the wrong reason.

7:31 Like sometimes there's bands are doing it for the business side, and I think they're idiots to be this because I mean, yeah, the music business side of this band came in probably like six months ago. I've been doing the band for about five years and it was always just put out the record myself, go on dy tours that say that was all. There was no no plan beyond that. It's fun that way. Yeah, it was great, but a lot of work, but which we always enjoyed. But I think, you know, I'm in my mid thirties now and it's kind of like, all right, maybe maybe I'm not going to say no to everyone that comes along every offer to like enter into the music industry. And I think Third Man is it was the right choice. They've been They've been great to work with our new label. So see that's good to hear. But let hey, if you didn't do what you did, you know, you might not have found them. You might have found somebody else that wasn't as good, right, So I think you kind of waited around for the right fit. And you have to have the right fit because you gotta be happy to be in this business. If you're not happy, you're in the wrong business. Ye. You should be having fun. It should be happy, but you have the other things along with it totally, So what else is going to be happening? After a riot fest? We are doing a tour in October with the Spanish sheer mag Okay, we got like two and a half weeks with them, and then we're going back to the UK and November for about two weeks and then another West Coast tour with Quicksands as to that, and then we're off for the holidays, but then starts right back up.

9:00 Began in January. We got pretty much books solid until like next summer basically. And so how do you like that part of the business, the road dog part of the business, It's great. I mean, as long as we can support ourselves pay the bills, that's really you know, it's a lot of fun. The show's have been great and because that's a fun part, right, Yeah. It's like sometimes I'll take my youngest daughter to win the festivals with me, and after half a day of the first day, she's like, Dad, I don't know how you do this. Every weekend I'm done array and I'm like, I don't know how. I don't like when I get home, I'm like, I don't know what to do. I kind of recluse when I get home, you know, you know how it is. Oh, when I get home from tour, I'm I'm on the video games for three or four days. Straight. Yeah, catching up. I'm catching up on all the stuff I mixed missed on my Xbox to download exactly exactly. I'm a Nintendo guy, but same theory, you know. I like to just kind of hunker down and hide out for a little bit with my dog and feel and then yeah, then get back into the social life after that. Yeah, exactly. So craziest story in your musical career? What has it been? Story? Oh? Wow, So we need to count, but I mean I'm thinking about one. A few years ago, we went to Southwest Southwest of my old bands and brought my dad on tour with us for a few days, which is really great.

10:33 But we had to get to Texas and we were driving from New Orleans, but the whole highway was flooded, so we drove like ten hours out of our way, like up above north of everything. I said, I don't know if this is the kind of craziestory you're looking for, but it was just a brutal day and my dad was there for all of it, and it was just kind of like, we'll see, it was cool that you're dad was there for, you know, And it is a good story because it's hard enough being on the road now to go ten hours out of your way. Yeah, that's why I'm in South Florida and none of the bands want to come down there because it's like five hours down in five hours to get out. So you're wasting ten hours, you know, when you could be playing gigs. I mean, I've lived in lots of cities like that.

11:16 Minneapolis is definitely it's like, oh we're playing Chicago, maybe Milwaukee, but not Minneapolis. And Vancouver where I was, it was like, Okay, we'll do Portland, Seattle, but a whole border crossing. Nah, we're not coming up there. So it kind of forces you to like be creative scene right there in town. And I don't know, sometimes that works, noose doesn't. But now music, take that out of the picture for a second. Now, what's your passion? Now, what's my passion? Well, I did start a career quote unquote for the radio people as a school counselor. But I almost have my degree, my master's agree in that and I do currently work in public schools. It's like a substitute teacher.

12:00 But I don't know if I would say that's my passion. I mean basketballs okay, I mean huge huge basketball fan. So what's who's your team? Minnesota Timberwolves? Nice? And do you have a favorite player? I would say Anthony Edwards is my player. He's kind of our new He's the new Jordan for our team. He tore it up in THEBA Cup this year and ex said it to see what it does this year, taking a leap, I hope. So now you gotta get your music playing and to Timberwolf games. It's it's in talks.
