Hi nice, Hi Man. I told you, but I have to say it on the air. Okay, Like that pre party, that was the most badass pre party of fifteen years of doing festivals. I think that was the most. Badass we compliment. Thank you so much. We had such a good time. When they called us to do that, We're like, yep, we're going right. Anything involved with ship Rock.

1:32 We just love the energy here and we love all the people that are involved, and so for us being able to get out there and you jump start this thing, I think that it was probably our best show of the year so far. Nice first show of the year so far. Yeah, we just come off a tour and had the Christmas break and we're like, oh, we're gonna come out guns blazing for this thing. So it's really just try to let's set the bar and make it like bring the energy. So it was a lot of fun. You did it too. I was like I was tell them before you guys started, I'm like, I wonder if they're going to do their new song. To Christine and Mike, I was like, you got they haven't heard it. I was like, you got to hear it, okay, and that song is freaking amazing. And it's what I love about most too, is that when you are in this genre of music, people love to think that because you growl, you can't sing.

2:27 It's a weird misconception. Right. I was a singer before I was a screamer. Right. I was classically trained and so, but that is a misconception, you know, when people will actually hear like my clean vocals are like, oh my gosh, what right, Oh you can sing? I'm like, well I am. I am in a. Band, yeah, And people have this miss like you said, misconception just to me, the growling tartar one hundred, like I sang thrash metal, and I didn't do it right, so I fucked up my throat. You know, very common, right, very common thing. There's a technique that you know, we learned along the way, and yeah, if you don't do it correctly, you could damage yourself permanently.

3:07 And so I do take it very seriously, and especially you know, being on tour, going back and forth between the cleans and the screams. And but I've always done that, yeah, our whole career, you know, for fifteen years. I've always gone back and forth between the cleans and the screams. I think before. I think it's just it hasn't been as highlighted as it was with sincerity. We started playing that song and our last tour in Europe even before it came out, and so it was really fun to just hone in on it. Great to debut it here in the States, of course at the pre party. And then the power went out twice during it. I though it was but of all songs and power goes out in like the beautiful like Bridge Park where He's got this like a Bitch and solo and those all yank.

3:52 Yeah, I couldn't believe during that song that's a song that happened. It's okay, though, We just the way that we have always rolled. Yeah, the boys didn't even know. They didn't even know that the power had gone out there. It's almost good went out. It's almost you know. That people just hear drums and we're up there just rocking, and it's like, oh, they don't hear anything, right, just drums in a room. Well, and there were a couple of times where you were still singing. I'm like, I wonder if she knows. Oh, I knew, but we just keep going. That's a bro the way to do it, because I mean it was day cut out for like maybe five seconds, which felt like a lifetime, but when it kicks back on, you're still on, and that you never know if it's gonna stay off or go on. But yeah, luckily it popped back on a couple times and we just restarted things and the show went off without a hitch there.

4:42 And then a couple of nights ago, I was at this set and for like a second, somebody was texting me. I think it was Christine or something, so I'm looking down and then I heard and I looked up on like holy shit, and you were singing for nothing more. Yeah, the second set, I expected it because it happened the first, But the first I was like blown away and man, you killed it doing that song. Think you know? It was such an honor. They sent me a DM and asked if I wanted to do it. We've been friends with those guys since two twenty twelve. I don't know when we all started basically, but we've been friends with them for a very long time, and it was such an honor to be asked to lend vocals for their song Stuck, which is heavy. It was a heavy, heavy song, and I was like, you want some screams. I got you some screams.

5:33 It was badass because you guys, both of you. Anyway, the energy that you bring on stage is most important too, because, like you can tell if somebody's just dialing through the motions or if they're passionate about what they're doing. And if you're a musician, especially in metal, you better be passionate about what you're doing. Yep, I fully agree. Authenticity when you get there and you're really feeling it and people can see it, they feel it too, right. You can tell when someone wants to be there, and you can really tell when someone doesn't want to be there, so I know that. Yeah, for us, we really want to be there. Yeah, glad that that comes off that way. And then okay, so last night was pret killer too. Uh you killed it up there, thank you? And so way did it feel like? Playing?

6:18 Like? It? Kind of blows my mind because I come from a time in the eighties where we weren't allowed to like all those songs, like if you were a Slayer fan, like you can listen anything else type of thing. Every metal musician loves eighties, Yes, their closet country fans. Yeah, yeah, admit it. Yeah, I know, I'm sorry, I though, right, But the eighties, you know the thing about and this was the funny thing is everybody was nervous for playing, all the musicians, I bet, because those. Songs only had one rehearsal, right, Because I was in the rehearsals the other day, I'm like, how are they going to do these songs on one rehearsal? Yeah, every everybody, and everybody's still and this is pro and everyone was super nervous. Those songs are really complicated and they're not easy to play, yeah, and they have to be so gentle with most of them because there's a lot of clean and stuff and so for metal.

7:10 And you're not used to it. Right. Yeah, it was nerve wracking, but everyone killed it. Everyone played really really well. Everyone took it really seriously and it was cool. And you know, she killed it was really well to know how. Much she killed it that earlier. Haley told me afterwards, she told you that she had a little crush on you after that after sinking that song, because she was like, holy shit, and it was true. Because what I loved about it is like people do get to hear from all everybody that was part of it. A different side again going back to the misconception of metal punk not being musicians, and they're way more musicians than most of the pop I.

7:58 Mean, so incredible to see everyone come together and play these songs. One of my favorite moments was when they played in the Air tonight. Keith got up there and just annihilated those vocals. He did such a great job. And then all of a sudden, you have every single drummer that's on the roster coming out with us. Oh my god, that that wasn't rehearsed. Oh that was even part of it we U. He came in, Keith came in at the very last minute. We ran through this song real quickly. We're like, ad, we got this. That was it. That w thing was on the spot that. Was so badass and even Al was playing the drums. Yeah, it was just probably one of my I was saying earlier, is probably one of my favorite moments from Shipwrecked.

8:45 Ever this is our third time, but that seeing all that that as soon as the don't don't don't you know the famous drum part and everybody everybody. Was there hearing it on stage and hearing all the drums behind me was I was like, wow, that was so cool, right. It was full body chills totally. So I have something new for you guys that I just started doing on ship Rocked. I've been warning this since I'm sixteen years old. My first is this is your battle vest. YEP and my grandson would wear it all the time because. It don't So I. Want you guys to look at all of the drug I drew everything on. Yeah, all the bands on here and everything on here. Those patches, Wow, there's blood over here.

9:38 When I knocked out my teeth doing a stage dive off a Marshall stack. What a beautiful memory, right, I gotta frame this thing. Yeah, well, Winston said to me, man, you could sell this on eBay for like five thousand dollars. It's the most epic battle vest I've ever seen. It really is. I mean, the fact that all of these locals goes are hand drawn is absolutely incredible. Too. Year did you what year. Did you have this? Where did this start from? This started in eighty okay, and through the whole La metal scene. Oh, it was the beginning of the La Medal scene. Yeah, totally. Like I used to hang out with Slayer Metallic and see their I went to their first shows.

10:21 We used to hang outside, go to her house and party. Like all the stories you hear from the eighties, I experienced them. I was there when Vince left with Razzle. Not a good story, you know. And I mean I remember before the first club show I saw in La. Like. I'm originally from New York in New Jersey, and my dad moved me to LA in nineteen eighty Okay, what a time to move there. Yeah, And I went to my first club show was Motley Crewe at the Roxy, before they had an album. They were more like horror punk. Then they weren't glam yet, right, and I they were trying to light the whole place on fire to bring Satan and I'm like, I'm never going to a real concert ever again. I was like thirteen, Oh my god.

11:02 And that started it all for me right there. And then it was like I was always at either the Troubadour, the country club or the Sunset Strip every Friday and Saturday night through all the eighties. Wow. And this this was with you through all that. That's it, through all that. A beautiful thing. This is classic Los Angeles, no doubt. And having lived there for I was there for seventeen years. Henry was there for twenty three years years and we did a lot of the same stuff, different time era. Yeah, I was when I was a little kid, though, I wanted to. Be go to La Bike right because of that scene. The scene I was that you were a part of. It was only ten wow, all those bands, but I was just like, you know, twelve hour drive from LA and I'm like, I got I gotta go to EL I have.

11:45 To see it. Well. Then, like I was pissed because like Slayer, Metallica left us with all the other bands that I want to go see. So me and my bro used to hitchhike up to the Bay Area after that and go to shows up there. Back when hitchhiking was like a normal motive. Everybody was on the huber of the eighties. I know, right, It's like it was like we waited online on the YDD wrapped. There would be in like a line of people like a surfing lineup, you know, and even like Slayer didn't even have patches at that time. So I just went and I did this. People thought in La that was a gang banger and that was my gang name. O goodness, yeah, you could roll with that, right, it.

12:28 Don't fuck with me? So look at all the different bands on here and tell me what band you would most want to tour with. Well, we've toured with a lot of these bands most want to tour with? Gosh? Is that fear there? That's fear? And if you remember the first interview I had with you, I knew exactly where you got your name from. Yes, of course, yeah, which is it's quite a feat. Now people just said they're like, oh the gosh, is that a call to action? I mentioned the plas Wendy Old Williams and nobody knows who they are. It's the weirdest thing, so weird to you know what, just out of here randomness. Sod would be awesome, right, I mean that would be really really cool.

13:11 They would be canceled today. We just were talking about that. You know what. We did a tour in twenty sixteen with Megadeth and was it Suicidal Tennessees. Yeah, they were on there. But I would definitely do another tour Suicidal. I would do another one with Meggoedath, Fucker, tors Slayer. It's a lot to with any of these bands we're still around. Yeah, but Cusious is just there's so many amazing bands on here. But I would say band Suicidal is just such a fun, fun, fun band. I love them, one of my favorite bands. They were not fun to go to our shows back in the eighties, especially if you were a long hair because you couldn't go to punk shows and they were still punk and that the Siouey Boys would be in the mosh pit with switchblades.

13:54 Yeah. We played a show when we were on the Megadath tour and it was you know, there's the amphitheaters, right, Yeah, and they were setting up and we were walking to the front of house and security were setting up metal folding chairs for people to sit, like, you know, there's in the pit. They were sitting up. They were like, we were like, you guys know who's playing. Right and those metal folding chairs. This will be a Jerry Springer. I was like, suicideal Tenze is playing and you're putting metal folding chairs in a pit. They quickly took those away. Yeah, that's a smart move. It was I think they got confused with this is They were like, oh, is this a book reading? So you'll love this. I went to the first ever crossover show ever. It was at the Sun Valley Sportsman's Lodge and Elks Lodge No Security.

14:44 Wow. The punk side was Ceoc pre Pepper when they were hardcore punk, The Descendants and Suicidal before they crossed over. Wow. The metal side was Savage Grace, which is it around that although they just put on a new album, but they were one of my favorite thrash bands back then, and Dark Angel and Possessed No Security. First time ever punks and metal heads were in a venue together. Nuts. I was gonna I was gonna say, was that just one giant cave. All I remember visual is people flying through the airs because they were climbing up in the rafters like diving.

15:28 It was just I just remember like people just flying all through the air and there was no safe place to hide. When I interviewed both on separate interviews, Woody and Mike, and I said, you probably don't remember this show, and the minute I sort of mentioned, oh yeah, that was at Elks Lodge, right, that was the most fucking epic show we've ever played. It was insane. I feel like as a musician, you'll you would never forget something like that. No an Elks Lodge, Yeah, can you imagine? So yeah, good memories. We actually got to witness once the punks and the metal heads. I never knew that that was a point of contention. I was born in nineteen eighty five, so all this was going on when I was a child. Now, we did a tour with Danzig and Doyle was there, so they're playing a lot of misfit stuff right now.

16:25 This was the first time I'd ever seen a clash between punk and metal kids. And it wasn't kids. I'm talking about grown ass men. And it was the weirdest I didn't expect it. I didn't know that was a thing, and we were witnessing it, and I was like, I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed in you. I thought we were past it. I thought it was stupid. Okay, there were a handful of us in high school that were metal heads, a handful that were punks. The jocks used to bully and beat the shit out of both of us, Yet we would get into fights with each other, like why didn't we band together? It was stupid. Well, it's nice to see that nowadays. We get in the pit, we come to these shows and it really is truly a family, no matter if you're a little on the softer side, a little on the heavier side.

17:11 You've got deathcore mixed with all the metals mixed together in the pit, and it's such a beautiful thing. They'll just someone falls, they pick them up. It's a family. Yeah, absolutely, And that's the way it should always be. Because we are a family. And now we can go to these festivals where there's one hundred thousand people, we can be a family and all together. Nobody's an outsider. Yeah, absolutely, everyone works together to make sure that everyone is safe and happy. Yep. Absolutely, So tell everybody how they can get your music that they don't if they don't know, get your merch and anything else we haven't covered that you need them to know about. Well, yeah, just anything under Butcher Babies. You'll find it there. It is there. No, no, don't do that. No, don't don't.
