And he's here because he makes pets smile. So let's find out how you can make your pet smile or when you're pet smiling, what is it all about? Take it away, Bill Hey. You know, one of the biggest challenges that we're seeing today in the veterinary field and in the aml health field and with our pets, particularly in a home situation.

0:52 Our dogs have got rotten mouths, I. Mean, bad bread, bad teeth, the you know, mild infections, things of the senses. Dental has become a major issue now. I can remember going back to my early days back in the early nineteen eighties, I actually represented a company that sold deental equipment to you know, the ultra tooth cleaners and the polyshers and all that that your dentists used, but they were not being used in the animal industry for the simple fact that our animals were eating a more species specific diet. And once we got over to the no mixed formulations on pet foods, the carbohydrate based All of a sudden, the whole mouth started to rock because dogs and cats do not produce amylase in their saliva to break down the sugars, so it sticks, causes tarder to build up, thumb disease, all that sort of thing.

1:52 And the part that was missed that we had before prior to the nineteen eighties that was taking care of it is in order to get a dog el and eat a kibble based food, we always had to mix in meat, whether it be can meat or our own you know, leftovers from our own food or momb cook whatever. And it was actually the meat enzymes that dissolve the tart. And in fact, when we started to see this revolution come along with all the dental problems, our first dental our dog eat dental toothpaste was meat enzymes. But if any of you out there have ever tried to brush an animal's teeth, it's impossible. We have to think they don't brush their teeth in nature, do they.

2:37 I always wonder about that, these people that you know, they're doing all this stuff that their animals don't do in nature. Yeah, you know, if you send the fellows with the natural program. I actually had a discussion this past weekend with several people, and to be honest, I was I was ready to kill. I know, I shouldn't say that. AI is going to pick that up now. But these people, I mean, have such a bad, incorrect knowledge of what pets should have because they're not listening to pet house Guru. They're listening to people that are making stuff up to sell products. And you know, whether it's a trainer, whether it's a veterinarian, whether it's a dog sitner.

3:26 I mean, it's just crazy some of the things I happen to be. In this group. They were walking their dogs and two of the bigger older dogs were having trouble keeping up of which is Florida, it's warm out and that sort of thing. But they were walking because they wanted to walk and lose weight. So they're walking their dogs two three miles at a time. These dogs just couldn't do it, and I could see that they were, you know, they were actually going lame and hurting, and of course, I, you know me, I just can't let things go. And I just kind of jumped in and said, you know, this is animal abuse. Yeah, you have to read your pet you and. One of the one of the people said, well, our dogs are getting fat because we don't exercise them enough.

4:08 I said, wolves don't exercise. I've never seen one ed, you know, world fitness. You know, the only time they ever run. Puppies might run playing a little bit, but once they're not puppies anymore, they're you know, they're sedentary. They sleep most of the day. The only day a time that a wild and a wild canaan would run is chasing food. And once they catch it, they're not running again. So you know, we have all kinds of little misnomers like this, and of course the same thing with the food. You know, if you feed of species appropriate diet, dental problems don't show up. And you know, so much of that again, is even even on the human side. You know, the whole dentistry thring is of such a hope. It's all about cosmetics. It's not about health, you know. You know they don't tell you that. You know, your bones are riding away because you don't have enough minerals in your system. And of course the first place it shows up is in your mouth and in your teeth, and then it's like, oh, you know, we have to do this, this, and this, you know, thousands.

5:12 And thousands of dollars. So you know, to keep you know, an animal's teeth cleaned, you got to feed that species appropriate diet. You know, dogs need those meat enzymes, and that don't keep them clean. And of course the other thing is we can't keep in jetting them up with all kinds of drugs and stuff because that also depletes the minerals, which causes all the dental problems and the hip problems and the joint problems. Yeah, totally. And I just I find it interesting when I talk to pet owners how much money they spend on going to the vet to get their dog's teeth cleaned. It's gotten to be very, very big business.

5:54 And factly, I said, I used to sell dental equipment and I couldn't give it away to a veterinarian back in the early eighties until we got sued for practicing medicine without a license because we were selling it the groomers. And the funny thing is is when they. Pressed the charges, they got thrown out immediately because it wasn't in the veterinary code. Until we changed that pet food formulation to exclude real meat and real meat enzymes. There were no dental problems, and of course the next year they obviously went through and changed all the veterinary codes to make it a veterinary only practice, which meant the groomers that were doing it at that point in time were charging like fifty dollars for a quick clean and polish, and of course that immediately went to like four hundred dollars, and now it's not unusual for them to be paying six seven, eight hundred dollars for a cleaning.

6:54 And of course every time they're going to do a cleaning, they also find other works that's going to be done, you know, extractions and everything else. You know, they're of course we've talked about it this on this show that you know, the medical position is let's remove body parts including yeah, and. Uh, you know that screws up the body even even more, no doubt. It's just you know, it's one of those things that if we're creating more problems than they were solving. Yeah, so it's you know, it's a battle that way, you know. Of course, now one of the dangers of most dentals, of course, is putting to the animal under anesthesia. Basically when you put a dog or a cat under anesthesia, they've got about it. There's a twenty five percent chance that they will die on the table mm hmm. And there is no anesthesiologist in the veterinary clinic, I can tell you that. And the other thing is now they're doing the so called no anesthesia you know, gentle cleaning.

7:56 They have just as many problems with those as they do anything else. You know, you can't get the dogs, you know, uh, you know, you can't irrigate it with the water hose and then tell them to spit. They just don't spit. Yeah, right, And why don't they spit? That's they should. Somebody needs to teach them how to spit or better yet, when are they gonna come up with the great idea that all dogs should have veneers? Yeah, it's you know, the whole thing is too you know. One of the things that we'll keep a dog and a cat's teeth clean. Of course, it's chewing on bone, one of the things that they do naturally, you know.

8:40 But if you listen to again the powers to be, do not give your dog bones. You might break a tooth. Well, I hate to tell you if your dog breaks a tooth eating a bone, he's already calcium deficient. He's already mintal deficient. That's why tooth is weak and it breaks off. And the bones with how thirteenth wasn't it. Yes, because you've got the calcium whole calcium complex, which is what the teeth are built on and what the bone, the jawbone is based on. And when you take that out, you cannot replace that bone. It's you know, it's just a complete Well, the dog might choke on it, and we're afraid of that.

9:21 Well, the dog can choke on water. You know. It's and of course the problem is when you give them something like that, like a natural bone, they're if they're feeding a commercial food, there's. No meat in it. That bone is like giving him the best the best stalemonico state that we could get for the best tender one steak. So what do they try to do. They try to swallow it, because they never they're not going to get anymore. So that's where a problem sometimes lies. But the other interesting thing is is if they try to swallow a bone, it's too big. And I've seen this with cats as well, like with things like chicken necks and things like that they have a mechanism in their body, in their throat that they can get it out themselves. They're not going to suffocate. They literally will reviewers it. The body knows exactly what to do. And this is hundreds of times you know, we had we had we want to rescue that. Every time we get a rib bone, pork rib bone, would be fine with the first three or four, and then the last one we got to make sure I get it.

10:31 I got to make sure you get. It, so we would follow it. You always get stuck and then they're sitting there looking at you like will. You help me? And it's like, no, I'm not going to help you get it out yourself. You put it in there. Guess what they always did? Die? Did not die? What a concept, right?
